We had a great experience on the funiculare. It ran every 30 minutes each way. It’s a fun time. We went to Alto for dinner and enjoyed it very much.

The first day when we arrived we went to Montecatini Alto. We took the funicular (Funicolare - 7 Euros per person RT) to Montecatini Alto, a hill top town. It has Coble stone streets and several restaurants to choose from. We selected one and had...More

Fun to do but be aware of long shut down over lunch. Gorgeous panoramic views as climbed to summit. Good restaurants at top.

The short train ride to the top of the hill is a novelty. Once at the top the views are stunning and there are a few small restaurants in the centre of the hill top village.

The views when you reach the top are fantastic. The smooth ride up the hill is enjoyable for even people scared of heights such as me. Good value for money too.

A cable operated train up the hillside to Montecatini Alto. 7 euro return fare is good value and the trip takes 7-8 mins each way. You get great views over the town. The trains do stop between 12.30-14.00 hrs, so it is worth having lunch...More

It’s seven euro to take a ride to the top and back. Keep in mind that it only holds about 36 to 40 people so if you’re going during peak time, you may have to wait for the next car which goes every 30 minutes...More

Loved our ride from Montecatini Terme to Montecatini Alto on the Funicolare. Takes around 10-15 minutes. We rode up just at sunset to Montecatini Alto, walked around this quaint small town, ate supper then rode down at dark. The lights of Montecatini Terme were beautiful.

Approximate 6-8 minute ride via incline to the oldest section of Montecatini. Great views of town as you ride. Crowded mid-day rides. Purchase tickets at top of Hill. A must do.

Hello, the distance is far to long and Rome deserves several days to enjoy. Use your car to travel the nice Toscana countryside.
