Good old fashioned funicular railway. Well-preserved. Every half hour. Fantastic views of the rolling countryside. There is a bar at the bottom which serves excellent coffee.

It was a lovely way to travel on this but it was somewhat spoilt by selfish German tourists who decided to hog the front of the Funicolare

This is a must do if you are visiting montecatini. It's only €7, you get great views and it's just one of those little experiences that makes a holiday. Small village at the top with plenty of good restaurants.

We did not go to Rome, not enough time if you want to see Florence, Pisa and the Tuscany countryside too! If you want to go to Rome, just do that!
