- LeodisLeeds, United Kingdom795 contributionsInteresting with great viewsWe got there for opening as staying in Malcesine. The visit was really good, some interesting information around but some odd exhibitions in the rooms and around the place. Overall a good visit, about 90mins for a slow walk around.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 5 July 2023
- NB16Vevey, Switzerland23 contributionsGreat castle with incredible views of Lake Garda!Visited here with family whilst on vacation to Lake Garda region. Was my favourite castle of the region and had some incredible views both North and South into the lake. Not too strenuous to get around for grandparents either due to great stair system. We want early in the morning as well when not too busy whereas was getting far more crowded by the time we left. Loved this area so much I paddle boarded round to it again the next day to see the castle from the water (entirely different perspective).Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 14 August 2023
- curly_geekBirmingham, United Kingdom153 contributionsWell worth visitingWe went in high season (August) on a slightly overcast day and were pleased to find it was fairly quiet with no queues. The entrance charge was reasonable, I think it was around e6 each. The castle and in grounds are really interesting, particularly as they have some environmental sculptures in the grounds. There are lots of steps to climb to the top - well worth it for the stunning view.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 August 2023
- Chris2437Paris, France130 contributionsNot exceptional, but interestingThe site is spectacular and justifies by the views of the lake the cheap visit. Inside the museum of natural history, a room dedicated to Goethe, souvenir of his trip to Italy, a simple but interesting multimedia room about the rivalry between Milan and The Doges of Venis. Finally the tower: climb a little difficult.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 August 2023
- Johannes F7 contributionsBeautiful views in a historic castleVery interesting and beautiful castle showcasing the history of Malcesine, its inhabitants, the Lago die Garda, Goethe in Malcesine and shipping history. Beautiful views towards the lake. Pricing of 6€ is reasonable.Visited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 10 September 2023
- Attenzione AttrazioneFlorence, Italy149 contributionsWhen on Lago di Garda....Must visit when on Lake Garda! Vey easy to find and magnificent view from the top. Excellent pictures from the tower and amazing view on the Malcesine town bellow. Ticket price for adults are 8 EUR per person, and 4 EUR for children, and it is definitely worth the visit. No need to reserve in advance. But if you visit in summer time, bring water and SPF. In the castle there is always some excellent exhibition, so you will not be bored in any case. Parking is outside the Malcesine town, because the whole town is pedestrian (ZTL) zone, so you can park in the garage under the Monte Baldo cable car of Malcesine (cableway), across the street from the main walking (shopping) street in Malcesine. We recommend!Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 2 October 2023

Don't skip the castle, it was such a cool experience with fantastic views and a rich history. The transfer of ships over the land was something that is very famous to Europeans but I had never heard of it.

Beautiful views, interesting displays and only 6 euros. Ideal if you’re at a loose end, the weather ain’t great or you’re genuinely interested in Italian history and culture.

Very interesting and worth a visit. You walk around at your own pace so you can take as long as you want to see it. Probably isn't suitable for anyone in a wheelchair or who had mobility problems.

Parking is not great and restricted due to small streets. We stayed at a local hotel (Dolomiti) which had its own parking but you could park in the local church courtyard and walk to the castle if you like - parocchia di Santo stefano
