    Exterior extraordinaire
Seems that the only way to see inside is to purchase a multi-church ticket (which can be done online or in the tourist shop opposite). Expect to see carvings galore and paintings over the wooden panelled ceiling of the basilica. Actually, the outside facade is even more impressive than the inside.

    amazing
It is a main attraction especially if your appreciative of baroque art. The intricate carvings on the building's facade is beautiful and stories behind the reason for the carvings. Lively plaza in front of church with many groups going through. The interior is impressive with more carvings and stories!

    Yes, for the outside fassade
If in Lecce have a look at it from the outside. It is really stunning! If you are interested in Lecce baroque by the combined ticket to see four churches. The inside is definitely _not_ worth the EUR 7.- they ask for it!

The Basilica is famous for its octagonal shape and beautiful rose window. The support for rebuilding came from the Adorni family as it has been rebuilt several times.
The Basilica façade houses the coat of arms of Phillip III of Spain after Jews were expelled in 1510 as a result of the inquisition and their homes taken over for construction of the original church.

Over the decades of my travels I've visited over 30 towns all over Italy. With hundreds of stunning churches I've visited all over the country, I can easily say this Basilica in Lecce surely ranks in top 5.
The facade is simply breathtaking, so rich and detailed. The interior is likewise beautiful, with ornate wooden ceiling and many side chapels.
The only reason I deduct one star is a pretty high entry fee, however if you buy the Combo ticket which includes other Baroque Churches it becomes reasonable.

Hands down, this is the most beautiful church in Lecce. If you only visit one church, this should be the one.

The carved stone façade is stunning.

The interior contains many interesting pieces of religious art.

The recently restored Baroque masterpiece Basilica di Santa Croce is well worth a visit. Located in Via Umberto in the heart of the old town around 15 minutes walk from the train station.

The baroque facade of this Church is amazing and you need a guide to walk you through the various characters and symbols that adorn it.
The interior is equally overflowing with baroque altars and chapels.
Clearly extensive restoration work has taken place and makes the building look new, a bit of a shame in my view.

The basilica is one of the true gems of Baroque architecture. The facade, newly restored, absolutely dazzles in the sunlight. You need to study the intricate details on the facade and examine the work artists did in creating this masterpiece. The interior does not disappoint. It too is a Baroque masterpiece, The churches in Lecce are open all day long, but they come with fees. Check out a joint fee for the cathedral and the basilica.
