Our trip to the Dolomites region of Italy was our second trip with Right Path Adventures. Both the first (Croatia/Slovenia) and this trip have been by far the most rewarding and memorable trips I have experienced. Gary has almost a magical ability to create the ideal trip for the group he is guiding. He will factor in weather, local events, and the capabilities of the group, and adjust the daily activities accordingly. The choices Gary makes, regarding the places, people, and businesses he includes in his itinerary are a big part of what makes his trips so great. We got to meet the owners of many places we stopped. He arranged a private meeting with the owner of the last rifugio we stayed at (a wonderful discussion, with prosecco and horderves provided!). The hiking routes and itinerary he selected for our Dolomites trip were simply incredible. If you are looking for the best possible small group adventure experience, you cannot go wrong with Right Path Adventures. If your idea of a great tour is following someone with a red flag leading a bus full of tourists to all the popular selfie-shot locations, you should look elsewhere...

Gary's "Croatia & Slovenia Adventure Tour" is 5 Star. The September 2021 trip was our second experience with Gary, having completed his Dolomites Walking Tour in 2019. Both were equally outstanding, and very special journeys.
What stands out about Gary is the passion that he brings to assuring that his guests expectations for the tour are not only met, but exceeded.
Gary is completely "hands on", and is personally available to answer all your questions. This begins at pre- booking, by facilitating your decision to join him, on thru to the last day of your tour. He handles all the itinerary details, so his guests then only need to show up on time each morning to begin that day's adventure.
Gary also will regularly surprise his guests with unique and exciting unannounced stops on the tour that add greatly to the enjoyment.
Our tour had 6 guests in total, which simplifies group travel logistics, and makes it easy to bond with fellow travelers. And Gary minimizes the time spent driving between stops, thus maximizing sight - seeing.
Our recent tour offered so much variety ..... Seaside cities on the Adriatic , Hilltop towns, an old world European capital , mountain valleys, hiking in national parks, traversing gorges, exploring caves , lakeside adventures, and much more.
And glorious weather, which Gary likely also arranged !?!
Thanks Gary for exceeding our expectations .....again.
We look forward to joining you again on the "Right Path"

With high hopes and a little anxiety on how I would perform on a major hiking trip, I set off to join Gary and fellow trekkers.
I’ve been with Gary before (on the Dolomite trip) so I knew his careful planning would pay off with all trip details covered and anticipated. His Sherpa team of guides and porters were first-rate. The accommodations were very good and we experienced good weather.
At the end of the trek, Gary took suggestions on how to improve the 7 days we had in the Everest region. I believe these changes will improve the enjoyment of future trekkers.
Plans and itinerary are apt to change given the weather, trail conditions, Lukla flight schedules, and dealing with the vagaries of Nepal. Knowing this, come with a positive attitude and be ready to adjust.

I really had no idea what to expect, and this was such an amazing experience! The Dolomites are so incredible and definitely worth a visit.
Gary set up a great schedule in beautiful places and picked hikes that met everyone's needs. I would have had no idea how to select good hikes when there is an overwhelming number to choose from and a group with varied abilities. We were marveling at what a skill set it is and how he executed it to perfection. He set us up in adorable valley villages and recommended excellent food options. All of it was so wonderful! While I never thought about doing a guided tour before (I went along with the family), I would definitely do a tour with Gary next time we travel to a place he does them.

Our family of 4 (with boys aged 15 and 17) had an amazing trip with Gary, Katarina, and Timka. The Dolasilla hotel was a fabulous base of operations in La Villa and really exceeded our expectations. The food was excellent (and abundant) and we really enjoyed the pool and spa, and the staff were so kind and attentive The rooms were very comfortable, with incredible views of the mountains and valley through large windows. All aspects of the room were top-notch, from the bathroom to sheets. But of course, the highlight of the tour was the daily walks with Gary and team. We always started on time and ended when he predicted. His chosen walks gave us a lot of variety and options to challenge ourselves when we wanted. Gary was able to arrange a via ferrata for our family with another guide for an additional modest fee. Gary and team were so attentive to our needs, especially Katarina, and we appreciated their attention to safety, especially with our kids. The meals at the refugios were another highlight. Gary also provided great travel advice for before and after our tour with him. We loved Lake Garda and his recommendations were spot on.

We had a simply amazing trip in the Dolomites with Gary, Katarina and Timka. The mountains and rivers and waterfalls and trails and quaint little towns are simply stunning; it is a unique place on this earth. Gary and Katarina have lived in this area for eons and they know the towns, trails, and trams like the back of their hands. Everyday we went to a different area and felt like we were seeing different things and having different experiences, even though within the same Dolomites. If you haven't seen this area before - you really need to!
They are all three just super nice people. When we first arrived, two van loads of people unloaded from the prior trip. They were all hugging Gary and clearly everyone was very connected and happy - yet sad to be leaving. We wondered if we would feel quite the same way when we left, but I'm happy to report that we did also! They truly felt like extended family by the time we left.
As for experience, Gary continued to entertain and enthrall us with stories of his hiking and climbing adventures. He is extremely experienced and understands what the weather may (and may not ) allow for. We always felt 100% safe with him, but every day he would really try to understand what the variable weather in the Dolomites would best allow us to do and enjoy for that day.
As for logistics, they provided all the hiking poles we needed, they shuttled the vans to be in the right places and everything felt very dialed in, even when we were adjusting plans to the weather.
And the hotel where we stayed was heavenly. Their spa area with different pools, ice plunge, saunas and a steam room were a treat to look forward to after a day of adventuring. And the dinners (and breakfasts) that were laid out for us all were simply staggering in their variety and quality. It was top-notch accommodations.
As for the other people on our tour, we were blessed to also have other couples who were just terrific people and we greatly enjoyed our companions, with many laughs and great conversations.
In short, it we had a fabulous trip to see amazing scenery, in the company of excellent guides (and human beings) and new friends.

Gary does a great job leading the hikes and adapting them to the abilities of the group. The small groups (up to 8) allows for camaraderie and making of new friends. He is knowledgeable about the trails, mountains, and weather that makes me feel safe. He chooses hikes/walks to showcase the best of the areas and includes bathroom/refreshment stops as necessary. Great, well-rounded adventure through the Dolomites!

While we happen to be an aging couple, we have no lack of hiking adventures and came across Gary Scott's Right Path Adventures some 10 years ago. Feeling it was the right fit with exciting day hikes along the Alta Badia side of the Dolomites, Gary was an awesome outfit of 1 providing all needs for gorgeous and at time vigorous adventures for small groups. While his experiences ranged from Australia to Nepal and Mount Everest (unfortunately, the invasion of Ukraine canceled that trip), he kept exploring and we joined him on the Alta Adagie, south Tyrol side of the Paso Val Gardena in the Dolomites just 3 weeks ago. Once again and joined by his family' the recommendations pre-, post- and during our adventures were spot on, fun, incredibly enjoyable (forests and manicured valleys, rugged mountains and spectacular views, charming villages and expanded trip ideas) and well valued. We sat in the evenings at our 3 and 4 star inns reminiscing and so please with the days choices. The lodging and food were great, transportation in a family van to the gondolas or trailhead was easy. The flexibility incorporated into his plans provides great experiences come rain or shine. We have already booked our next adventure with Gary to his new home and new adventure in Slovakia. More mountains (the Carpathian Tatras) huts, castles, small towns, spectacular scenery and challenging days with relaxing evenings, food experiences and all worked out for small groups with great value. He has added the Canary islands and working on other world sites. Gary is always accessible and easy to work with. We will book with the Right Path every time!

I signed up for 2 back-to-back trips: from Lake Garda to the Dolomites, walking and trekking. Superb in every way ! If you love northern Italy, experiences, food, views, traveling with a small group of only 8 people, these trips are for you. Gary understands your ability level and will gear trekking options for you. He offers insights into the areas visited. He books the finest hotels. Highlights for me included the visit to the exquisite Trauttmansdorff gardens in Merano and day after day of spectacular mountain vistas, trekking in the finest areas of the Dolomites. Being with Gary is a pleasure. He is knowledgeable and enjoys sharing his experiences. These trips were far more fun than traveling with an expensive tour company. I want to sign up for more trips offered by Right Path Adventures with Gary.

Six friends ventured out on The Right Path with Gary Scott. Who would have thought a 2 week trip could be so fun filled and diverse? We booked back to back trips, Dolomites Hiking and Croatia & Slovenia walking. We hiked 7-10 miles per day and didn't even notice the effort since we were surrounded with natural beauty. Gary took great care of us with his area expertise and planning. He kept us away from touristy crowds and made us feel like explorers. We had time to enjoy picnic lunches, refugio meals, elegant dinners and shopping. We even had time to ourselves to explore Corvara, Cortina, Rovinj, Ljubljana, Lake Bled and Bohinj. Gary even booked private tours for us in Rovinj and Ljubljana. Gary's knowledge of safety, local history and local trails really made the trip special. He even threw in a few surprises, which continue to keep us chuckling and smiling. We had a day of rain and we had some fun with it. We have stories that will last a lifetime. His model of small groups (6-8) is ideal. We were in good hands and definitely took the Right Path.

Hello Gary,
We are planning on visiting dolomites around mid November. Could you please advise on weather conditions and which hiking tours could be done in this period.
Best,
Aditi
Written 4 October 2019
Ciao Aditi, sorry if this is a repeat, I tried to answer you on my phone and maybe it did not go through. The Dolomites - like many summer and winter resort areas - closes down late September so in November nothing will be open, most towns are dead, and most hiking trails not really doable. Better to head south at that time of year and come back to the Dolomites mid-June through mid-September.
All the best. Gary S.

Hello Gary,
How much is a Dolomite hiking tour ? Solo for 4 days?
Thank you
Written 30 May 2019
Hello, please check our website for more details, dates and availability - our regular five day (one day travel) Dolomite tours cost $2,995 per person (an no single supplement so you get your own room with attached bath at no additional cost), but we could do a pro-rated rate for four days. Be great to show you around the amazing Dolomites and show you my secret spots - cheers and thanks for contacting Right Path Adventures.

How much is this tour?
Written 3 September 2015
Hello Shellie, it depends on the number of people and exactly what you want to do with your day and if you wanted just a driving tour or to do some walking in the Dolomites as well. We only do private tours which would start at 500 euros per day for 8 hours round trip Venice to Venice. ciao, Gary
