During our recent visit to and stay in Chiusi, we were fortunate to take the recommendation of the town's excellent Tourist Information office and visit the Museo. The museum documents in a very understandable, well captioned guidance through the Etruscan civilization that had developed there more than three millenia ago. The exhibits are logically staged over the timeline of the... More

This museum gives you a very good picture of the etruscans, those so interesting ancient people. The museum is not too big but ccontains a very good collection of vases, statues, household goods, jewellery etc. not forgetting the burial artefacts.

Very nice cozy museum chiefly on one floor (and smaller basement) full of ancient Etruscan artifacts, also of interest for the visual confrontation you can have between Greek vases and Etruscan rip offs....along with many unique pieces like fibulaes, ear rings, mirrors of the era, tomb urn, gravestones.... amazing! I suspect this museum might be the most comprehensive of its... More

We traveled to Chiusi to return a rental and then catch the train, but arrived a day early and found Chiusi most delightful. The Museo Archeologico Nazionale contained artifacts unique to the area. Made us realize just how much must be still buried throughout Italy.

Tuscans pride themselves about their Etruscan origins and the museum is surely well worth visiting. As Tuscany is rich in medieval and renaissance edifices (e.g. Siena, Florence) visitors should not miss the ancient times. The museum has a wealth of displays of this ancient civilization with common elements to ancient Greece. Fortunately we had a good local guide to pace... More

In the quiet of Chiusi there is this excellent museum with a vast array of exhibits concerning the life and death of Etruscans, from c. 7th century BC to 3rd century. Exceptional sculpted heads, animals, and funerary monuments with family groups.

If you go crazy for Etruscan art, pottery and other items, then you will love this museum. Despite Chiusi being a small town it has an incredible richness of artifacts from Etruscan, Greek and Roman times. No more than an hour is normally needed for the average person. Don't forget to see the Museo Civico La Città Sotterranea with the... More

Chiusi is so lucky to have the museum. It's a treasure. The exhibits, covering the period from the days of the early Etruscans through the coming of the Roman Empire. The exhibits are clear, well arranged and descriptive. The collection material varies widely, illustrating the sophisticated culture of the Etruscans. This museum make a visit to Chiusi with the trip.... More

This was a fabulous little museum filled with Etruscan artifacts. It was very well curated. Most of the exhibits had English cards as well as Italian cards which was very helpful. There's a lovely mosaic downstairs. I left with a renewed interest in the Etruscans.
