A fascinating trip in the underground etruscan and medieval old Chiusi. A well maintained path among antiques makes the visitor come back to very old times. The young lady who guided us was friendly and explained the history of Chiusi since the Etruscan era.

Discover how deep underground, below the piazza in Chiusi there are narrow passages, canals, a huge water tank, mostly built after the Etruscans died out, but still fascinating. Bring a torch and suitable shoes (some paths may be quite wet).

This is a little tricky to find as the entrance to the underground bit sends you off somewhere else, but eventually we found it and had a great time. The museum itself is a little dull and obviously aimed at school kids, but for 4 euros each we got entry to this and a good 30 minutes tour of the... More

We visited Chiusi today and went to find the underground museum. You have to go at set times for a tour. We were a bit early so went for a coffee at the excellent vaticano and came back at the right time to find a dozen Italians. The lovely lady your guide said it was ok to go and would... More

We have been to the underground city of Chiusi, this is amazing to walk in the long and cool caves and to feel the atmosphere of going back in time few thousands years back. You can read the Etruscan scripts on the tombs were they deposited the rests of the cremated bodies, the most common name for women was Tania... More

Very inexpensive and interesting. MY husband and I stopped in Chiusi on our way to our hotel in another part of Tuscany. This was a very cute town and beautiful to walk around. We stumbled upon this museum and for 2 euros was given a private tour of the underground museum. Informative, but not worth a separate trip to the... More

Not much is about this elusive, but powerful civilization that preceded the Roman Empire, but they left behind many tombs and artifacts. The best place to see this incredible piece of history is in Chiusi. Visit the museum which is centrally located in the centro storico and then ask for the key to visit the network of tombs just outside... More
