Get there early, lots of traffic. Check dates it's closed for cyclists before you set your heart on driving it. The 75 bends says it all.

Looking at the map and planning the next few days it would have been very easy to skip. But you don't guess how cool this place is until you actually see it. Unfortunately, the ski area had closed literally the day before because of unseasonable...More

We were in Bormio in june 2017, and my friends started in Granfondo. This race is a big adventure and sporty physicall effort. But when you come on 2750 m high, you have total satisfaction. On the top, you can meet alpin skiers.

First day ride up to Passo Umbrail - tough but okay; then into Switzerland and back around to the Stelvio - very challenging from Trafoi.

well worth a visit.....it was a drive from Bormio that was worth all the while. On arrival we took a drive with a snow vehicle around to the top of the mountain. The scenery from up there is simply breath taking. All visitors to the...More

We went up by car on the 2th of September. Very nice view but up it was snowing and we had summer tires. Interesting mountain road! It beats the romanian Transfagarasan!

I came here at the end of July/Early August and there was snow at the top of the pass. It was very, VERY cold at the top and I would highly advise you layer up. I would post a picture but it wont let me.

Generally speaking: NO. The pass will be closed as soon as snow arrives and in December I guess there is already a lot of snow. It will re open, presumably, some day in May.
