The lake Alleghe is an important landscape element of the Cordévole Valley - and it has been established for many centuries after the settlement of this part of the Dolomites. Unfortunately, today's "industry" - tourism - has a negative impact on the purity of the lake's water.
The lake offers a range of recreational activities such as fishing, boating, windsurfing and sailing or you would do the pedalos at Alleghe. The lake is a popular destination for ice skaters and ice hockey players in the winter.
After several challenging hikes around Civetta, we set out on a tour around Lake Alleghe, one of the most famous and accessible strolls in Alleghena. Starting from our hotel, along the waterfront to the small beach and continue to the hamlet Masaré. From the main square in Masarè we jumped to Ru de Rialt Waterfall. After returning and resting in the Baranci Restaurant, we continued across the river bridge and followed the asphalt community road which led steeply on the other side of the lake. From this scenic point you can admire the village of Alleghe in all its beauty, with Mt. Civetta and the Pelmo in the background. We admired the beautiful white swans on the lake. The lake is theirs.
Finally, we left the asphalt road and reached the staircase to the so-called. "percorso naturalistico", which led us to a suspended hanging bridge across the river and to the original side of the lake. The atmosphere of the beautiful day was greatly disturbed by the helicopter noise, which flew in short intervals with tourists over Civetta from a heliport in Alleghe

All of the Dolomiti lakes are spectacular but Lago di Alleghe captures some extra quality because it sits alongside the great little village of Alleghe!
Wonderfull scenery around the lakeside waterfront with some quaint little 'villagescapes' and great little restaurants!! A short drive (1 hour) from Cortina or Corvara through some truly scenic landscapes adds to the mix!!
Lago di Alleghe .... for atmosphere and scenic beauty in spades!!

If you like the Alps you will love it.
Beautiful, romantic, totally alpine, not too big.
It also is a ski resort however I have not tried it. We went in summer.
Lovely walks (for fit people and children not too young).

Nice place to relax and take it easy. You should take a walk around the lake...takes around 45 mins. One side of the lake had many restaurant's and the other side gives a great view of the entire village and impressive Dolomites in the back drop.

Very beautiful lake. We were living there for 3 days and I enjoyed the view to the lake and village a lot! The sunrise time is the best to see the lake:).

We stayed in Caprile for a few days at Easter. We walked around the lake one sunny day. The walk is easy and relaxing with wonderful views of the valley and its mountains. There is a footpath on both sides of the Cordevole river that run through the valley and creates Alleghe lake. The footpath starts at the bridge that crosses the Cordevole at Caprile. Along the way people can visit a lovely church - Santuario Maria delle Grazie, built after II world war thanks to the local people;s financial support.

This was a final stop on a tour including Lago di Fedaia, going up Marmolada in the open cable cars and the walk from Malga Ciapella to Sarragota. All done with four boys aged 10 to 2. We had promised the older 3 (4 to 10) we would do the pedalos at Alleghe. When we got there it was only 4 to a pedalo so after some haggling daddy got the short straw and had to go in whilst mummy took a rather annoyed 2 year old for a walk and sit down.
My boys did most of the pedalling so I did get some time to lie down and admire the view which is absolutely stunning. I am a bit of a glutton for natural beauty and going into the middle of the lake and just looking all around is breathtaking. The boys just enjoyed the fun of pedalling.
Price wise it is pretty cheap at 6 euro for 30 minutes which was more than enough time for my exhausted legs. A great way to end a day of admiring this most beautiful part of the world.

Peaceful area, beautiful lake, great location in the Dolomites. Loved paddle boating. Had fun going up the 'funivia' cable car in the sky, miles and miles high in nearby Arraba at the ski resort--it was seriously worth the money and the side trip over--the views were spectacular--like nothing else in the world. It was heavenly being 'on top of the world' so high up in the jagged Dolomites!

Took the cable cars up, and took one of the well marked hiking trails for an amble. Fantastic views of Civet, the valley, the lake. Followed by a late lunch.
