About
A great spot for a day trip, this shielded bay is one of the biggest lagoons in the Akamas peninsula. Travelers are attracted to its warm crystalline waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling near the reef. You'll have clear views of the sea bed and the marine life that inhabits its waters. It's exceptionally popular in summer, so visit during other parts of the year if you want fewer crowds. The best way to get to the lagoon is by boat from Latchi harbor. Many sunset cruises and day tours from Paphos typically make a stop by the Blue Lagoon, too. – Tripadvisor

- CatherineShropshire, United Kingdom186 contributionsAmazing blue water and best sea swimWe went on a boat trip to blue lagoon from Latchi. Great coastal views on the way and the water in the lagoon is the most blue clear water. Stunning. Lots of boats in the area but plenty of room to swim. Lovely warm water but refreshing swim. A must visit for this experience. We returned a second day via a jeep trip, very bumpy and rocky road to get there! Felt safer with a guide though. Rocky steep path down to the small busy 'beach' area. No facilities, very secluded. There was an eco camping place up the road. Would recommend the boat or jeep trip to get there.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 September 2023
- AaronBudapest, Hungary8 contributionsBeautiful beach with great surroundingsThe beach itself was very beautiful, the sea was warm and blue as a dream. It's fun to sit on huge rocks, and to climb you surroundings safely for a view. We had to walk though, as we didn't have a rental car, which took us about 1.5 hours to get there. The trail is gorgeous but very long.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 October 2023

It cost me 20€ and i have to say the best 20€ spent EVER The whole journey was around 3 hrs an hour to get there roughly an hour at the Lagoon and an hour return. The waters were unbelievable. My whole experience was pleasurable. I was alone and the captain of the boat approached me mentioning if I felt more comfortable I could put my personal belongings in the cabin and the staff aboard were helpful in taking photos and videos if you needed. It's really picturesque and the water is indeed very blue! More importantly, if you would like to test your off road driving skills this is the place to do it.
It is certainly the "getting there" that I will remember the Blue Lagoon for!
If you have a little runaround hire car I would think carefully and consider if you want to use it to get here. If you value your deposit it might be worth getting a buggy or a quad from a hire place. We saw lots of people doing just that.
We were commited by the time we realised we should turn back, and even then we didn't know where the next turning point was. Although we (and our car) survived, one wrong move could easily result in a blown tire, cracked suspension or ripping your exhaust off.
We travelled the whole road at about 5kph for fear of shaking the car to bits or having the suspension explode up through the bonnet. Our car was auto too which wasn't ideal either as some of the hills are very steep, there was a couple of hair raising moments when I thought our little scrappy engine wasn't going to pull us up it!
If the worst does happen and your car shakes itself to pieces or you drive over a massive steep hump or giant sharp rock that leaves your suspension and shock absorbers behind you in a could of dust, I can't honestly see a way of getting a bust up car off this dirt road if it ends up un-driveable. Perhaps one of those helicopters that transport elephants in giant cargo nets? Not sure if your insurance will cover that.
If I had to go again I would get a buggy or a quad.

We went on an all day boat trip visiting Blue lagoon as a stop-off. It's very pretty but also VERY busy (August) so don't expect a tranquil paradise. Snorkeling was fun but nothing special. If you are visiting I'd recommend doing so privately/ charter a small boat of which there are many vs big organised trip. That way at least you can determine where you go/ how long you stay for. For the big organised trips it's basically 8 hours on a boat with a lot of other people and a bar. Great for topping up the tan .... but you can do that by the pool without the madding crowds!

The place is very beautiful and is definitely worth a visit.
It’s natural beauty is cool to see especially as it’s not surrounded by bars, restaurants or hotels. With that being said it means getting to it can be difficult.
If you put it into your satnav it’ll say you can get there in an hour and a half from paphos but I was driving a Ford Focus and so with my little knowledge of the area and lack of research I was surprised when I entered a car park only for the directions to tell me it was another 20 minute drive.
You can drive but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have a 4x4 or all terrain vehicle such as a buggy or quad bike.
We eventually walked and it took approximately an hour and I’m a fairly fit lad so wouldn’t recommend if elderly or have a young family.
Alternatively you could get a boat or hire your own boat and drive it there.

This was a well organised trip. The EOS tour guide was very organised and had to be as we had 51 people on the tour. I think to some extent this made the tour a little less enjoyable. We stopped for lunch. A menu was passed round. We didn't have any idea where we were stopping so felt a little obliged to have a meal. We didn't really want one as we were staying in an all inclusive hotel and were being well fed. The meal wasn't great and was a little pricey at €18 a head. We also stopped at a vineyard but again this was to help you part with your cash. The boat trip to the blue lagoon was ok and the blue lagoon itself was ok but as a main attraction for Cyprus I was unimpressed. Cyprus has so much more to offer. We went to a blue lagoon in Turkey and that was far better.

Big disappointment. Went on a cruise there was hoping to do some snorkeling. Not only was any fish hard to come by (we finally got to a spot where we saw a couple of fish, nothing spectacular at all a 1/100 what one can see in UAE Snoopy Island). My biggest disappointment was how dirty the place was you had to concentrate not to swim into a plastic bag or a can or a bottle. It is really so sad what people do to seas. I never saw it until Blue Lagoon so clearly, as the place was really full of waste. The fact that there were many boats with plenty of people at the same time did not add to experience. Really, I am angry with myself that I contributed to this damage to the fauna. Won't be tempted again.

Clear blue waters. Great for snorkelling (though be mindful of the odd sea urchin on the rocks when you step). You will need to have a motorboat or a 4x4 to get to it . In high season, its best to get there before 11 if you can - otherwise you will be sharing the lagoon with a multitude of cruise boats and their passengers. Make sure you bring plenty of drinks with you in the summer heat - there are no facilities here and precious little shade.

just a review to warn people about accessing blue lagoon. we had no knowledge , signs of info online about the fact you can’t just drive any car, make sure you hire a 4 x 4 quad bike, buggy etc, or access it by a tour or boat. the roads are VERY rocky and uneven.
the actual blue lagoon is lovely but there isn’t many space to sit or sunbake
we went on a hot day and it was very quiet - most people were swimming off boats

Need to explain. The original nature itself is 5 stars undoubtedly! But i invite you to take your goggles or a diving mask and just see the amount of breaking down plastic in the water. Never seen anything like this. And then was going there by boat once with large plastic bags just floating in the water with garbage around, felt like a Pacific garbage belt. It's during the touristy months. And Cypriots just have fun oblivious to the plastic the fish (and ultimately us) eats. Go, check it out yourselves, and see the long plastic stripes everywhere in the water.

Bus was super punctual. Esther was bubbly friendly and knowledgeable....she allocated you seats so there was no arguing or getting split up.
Very clear comms about where we were going and what time we needed to return, time was well balanced at all venues. The boat trip was pleasant with plenty of room under cover and easy to get in and out of the water for the swim. Great lunchtime meal, blue lagoon a deff highlight. Definitely recommend.

There is a thin and VERY bumpy and VERY steep path that leads from the main road to the blue lagoon area. Quads can go on this but must be steafy and confident as this road is very sheer and jeeps use it too.

Hi,
What are the travel options to get to Latchi's port from Paphos?
Is it recommended to order a cruse or just getting there?
Thanks!

What's the easiest way to get to the lagoon in November? Called a few boat operators , located in Latchi, but they said they stopped operating due to off season. Is it worth taking a risk and driving up to latchi, hoping there would be a boat tour available? If anybody who's been there in November could share some insight, that would be great !
Thanks

Hi, I want to visit the blue lagoon and was wondering how accessible it is, we would be driving from the paphos area. Is there parking nearby and is it a case you can walk to where the lagoon is or is a boat trip required?
Written 11 October 2018
You can rent a 4x4 car or motorcycle/4x4 ATV to go there. YES There is a small parking place above blue lagoon, although it’s a little bit dangerous to reach the beach on foot, but is accessible!! You will enjoy it if you like extreme sports rather take the boat!

Bue Lagoon Cruises from Latchi Harbour - their 3 hour sunset cruise departing about 17.30 to the Blue Lagoon is superb (and the best way to travel to and see the lagoon). Snorkelling from the back of the boat, free juice/melon, and a bar.
