Great beach for a stroll and a swim
Beach located in Muscat with lots of public road access points and from a number of hotels (W, Intercontinental, Crown Plaza and some smaller hotels). Huge beach (around 5km accessible) with a few cafes and restaurants off the beach with some picnic shelters on the shoreline Road in some stretches. Really popular beach for locals and residents to relax in the evenings and especially at weekends. Great beach for a stroll and a swim to get some sea air on a Muscat visit.

Fine. Not the Whitsundays or the Maldives - but ok for a walk and a paddle
Had a couple of hours to spare so went for a wander along QB from the eastern end. Pleasant enough, but not somewhere you really want to hang out for long. If you are a beach lover then swerve and stick with the Caribbean or Asia. If you're in town no problem go and explore.

    Nice but under utilised.
This is a beautiful stretch of sand, extending for about 5km. When we visited there were no loungers or umbrellas, nothing on the beach at all to help you relax and not get the full force of the sun. It was a lovely stroll and very picturesque as well as being shallow so you could stand up 50m out into the water. Maybe beaches here aren't a thing as it is just too hot?

Qurum Beach is a lovely beach for a stroll, but sunbathing in Western swimwear just doesn't work. Both women and men are expected to be conservatively dressed, both on the beach and in the water.

But what to do, you ask in despair? You want sun on your body and to flaunt that new bikini...

The solution is nearby. When you're done strolling up and down Qurum Beach, hop in your car and drive to the Capital Yacht Club.

Here, the entrance fee is OMR2, and for that amount, you get a sunbed, a parasol, the softest sand, and delightful bathing water, where you can even do a bit of snorkeling by the rocks at each end of the beach.

And yes, it's perfectly okay to sunbathe in a bikini and small Speedos here. Remember a towel, water, and a snack for a little hunger.

Swimming:
The Beach to Look at is Gorgeous
It was tempting to swim as water is calm
Decided to swim water around 1 pm water is very green full of Algae
You are actually surrounded by green algae completely when in water
Got infected on arms and spend lots of money to buy the correct cream to heal the infection that was getting pus
Be careful and think twice before swimming
Walking is great with nice cafes with tourists

It was a great 2 hour vacation at the beach 👍
Nice view, calm and enjoyable walk, pretty clean, very good sand, soft and is cool because you can easily build sandcastles (kids). Accessible easily by car, has some nice restraunts (Especially one by the nome of Turkish Twins or something like that).

Easily recommended to you! 👍😂

This is a public beach that allows the visitor to see a microcosm of life in Oman. There are three cafes which overlook the Qurum Nature Reserve and the beach itself, but the best thing about the Al Shati Street is the constant steam of slow moving traffic. Every different demographic from Oman comes here. In the evenings, and at weekends, the beach itself becomes the setting for multiple games of football, played mainly by young Omani men. Others drive slowly along the road, in both directions, showing off their cars and checking out who else is around. Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi workers use the beach as a backdrop for photos home, while South Asian and expatriate Arab families use it as a picnic venue. The beach stretches roughly from the Intercontinental Hotel to the Cowne Plaza - up on the cliff, but it is split by the wadi leading to the Qurum Nature reserve and the wadi just below the crown Plaza.

Best times to go? Weekday mornings if you want tranquility. Early evening for spectacular sunsets. Thursday, Friday, Saturday late afternoon, early evening for le tout Muscat.
