A stunning architectural example of Omani Islamic culture. The Mosque and grounds are simply beautiful and offer the visitor to Muscat a quiet escape to enjoy the exquisite interior of the Mosque. There are many English and other language speaking volunteer guides who are happy to show you around and tell you about Omani culture and history.

Note: it's only open to the public from 8 to 11 in the morning Saturday - Thursday. (Closed on Fridays.) We arrived at 10:15 and wished we'd given ourselves more time to explore the grounds and the mosques. It's a huge complex.

Visited the mosque just after Maghrib prayers. The mosque was superbly lit from the outside ... and the inside is breathtakingly beautiful. A must see !

Three of us visited in the morning and we all were thoroughly impressed and enjoyed it. The architecture, the water and greenery was superb and the carpet from Iran in the mosque was magnificent. Visiting time are from 8am-11.30am.

We visited this mosque as part of city tour. It is open to the public from 8 to 11 am. You can wonder outside and inside the mosque. It has the biggest carpet in the world and one of the biggest chandelier. The art work on the walls and the dome is breathtaking together with the stained glass. We finished... More
