    Cool place
It was easy to navigate and just an hour and 30mins drive from Muscat. We drove early morning to see the place and avoid the crowds. Reached the place and not full of tourists. The place is very nice, and the water is very clear. The entry is free to visit the area. U can also enjoy swimming in the area

If you have time and you drive past it anyway, do it.
Almost everyone who does the "standard" left or right circuit in Oman drives past here. If you have the time, it is a nice stop. Entrance is free as is parking. The surrounding park is neatly laid out. There is an (albeit oriental/squat) toilet facility. You can walk down the stairs and go swimming. Small fish in the water nibble on your skin. If you have less time and/or you are going to Wadi Shab during your trip, you can skip swimming here in our opinion. Would certainly not go there (alone) with a special excursion from one of the hotels or from Muscat. Without swimming you will have seen it after 15 minutes.

    Bimmah Sinkhole
We stopped here on the way back to Muscat after visiting Tiwi and Wadi Shab. Great place to stroll around relax for a short while with free entry and plenty of parking on-site. Also really friendly security team who gave us Arabic Coffee as we left. There is a small child play area on site too. The stairs down to the sinkhole are quite steep but well worth it to get a free foot massage from the small fish in the water. Lovely experience once i got over the tickly sensation of my feet being nibbled i didn't want to leave.

    Great place
Stopped here as part of a tour pk the way back from wadi Shab. Easy to visit yourself though. Free car park and the sinkhole is about 10 mins easy walk from there, just steep steps down. Toilets by the car park but no shop so bring food and water. You can swim in the sinkhole so bring swimwear and towels. Beautiful clear water and some little fishes (the kind that give you a pedicure so beware of the tickling feeling!)

    “Shooting Star”!
After the extremes in Wadi Shab, our Guide Paul, on the way to Muscat, took us to the municipal Hawiyat Najm Park, where this natural Attraction called Bimmah Sink Hole actually stands. According to local folklore, this place is the Bimm Failure, formed as it were after the comet hit, thus forming a deep crater that then filled with salt (as there is an underground connection to the sea) and fresh water. But geologists believe that erosion of limestone rocks was the cause of this interesting formation. The collapsed rocks went deep into the ground, creating a crater-like hole. According to Paul, he once ventured and sigan off the ledge into the water vent of this karst cave and interestingly, still lives.🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Very unique spot
OK... So the first piece of advice is NOT to go when it is hot. Though it was September, it was extremely hot. First you have to walk from the parking to the sinkhole (which is located in a park). Then you have to walk down (and up on the way back) several steps to reach the sinkhole. And then back to the car. So you can only imagine how wearisome that would be in the summer months (and September is a summer month in Oman). Another interesting factor is that if you view the sinkhole from the top, it seems ordinary. The magic arises when you reach it after walking down those aforementioned steps. Although nobody was swimming when we were there, rumor has it that people take a dip in the sinkhole. There is also a part of the sinkhole that is within a cavern. That part has shade. But what's the point of shade when you have to face the sun moments later? It's definitely worth the visit (free of charge by the way), but in the winter months please!

Good place to visit if one can swim
The road to the place is quite good. Free parking. You get into a park through a gate. Toilets are available right at the entrance. Guess this was the only place in Muscat where I saw a bad toilet. Once you enter it is a 5-10 min walk to the sinkhole. You can see it from the top. It is a ~170 steps to go down to the water. Please note, there is no shade anywhere at any point of time. The waters are turquoise blue hue and not cold. Ppl who can swim can enjoy the place. Rest we just wet our feet and get outta there as the heat becomes unbearable after a while. Went in october and still suffered in the heat. Probably a trip during winters makes more sense.

    A preserved natural formation.
The sink hole is best visited before 4 pm.. by the time we reached after the Wadi Shab tour, it was late and we were tired s well… keep this as a separate activity. The steps that go down to the bottom of the sink hole is high and steep. Those with knee injury/ weak knees will find it challenging. It’s amazing to know the sink hole is connected to the see via under ground tunnel just 600m. Will come again another time to explore this better.

On the morning that were leaving Muscat to explore more of Oman, my wife and I stopped at Bimmah Sinkhole. The Sinkhole is the highlight of Hawiyyat Najm Park which includes an expansive playground for children, beautiful views of mountains as well as very clean restrooms.

The view from the top of the rim looking down to the sinkhole offers a nice panoramic view. I really appreciated the perspective once I walked down the many stairs to the ground level at the sinkhole. The water was a beautiful mixture of turquoise and darker blue colors. I learned that the sinkhole measures 50 meters by 70 meters and has a depth of approximately 20 meters.

I didn’t opt to swim, but the waters were inviting and there were several visitors who did swim and appeared to enjoy themselves. The sinkhole at the water level is a lot larger than it may appear from the rim and I never felt crowded.

The morning was the perfect time to visit this site with beautiful weather and not too many visitors crowding the park or sinkhole.

We were on our way back to Muscat from Sur and had decided to check out this geological formation that looked so gorgeous in the pictures. We were not disappointed.

The entry to this place is free, and the area is very well-maintained. Before you reach the sinkhole and descend the stairs, there's a vast enough park on the way. It is full of trees, cactii, succulents. There are many gazebos too, should your family decide to come here for a picnic. There's a washroom by the entry/exit and it is excellently maintained.

As for the sinkhole itself, it can be reached by going down a staircase, mind that the stairs can be steep. Please using the railing. Swimming is actually not encouraged per the official announcement, but folks do it anyway. So much so, that we witnessed a stunt of a guy diving right up from the top boundary wall into the water below. I was a little scared of some kind of an accident.

But otherwise, this place is great. There are smooth boulders to sit on and dip your feet into the water, or venture out a few feet inside the pool, or go swimming all the way to the other side. The place is exactly as gorgeous as it looks in pictures with turquoise green water.

For us, an hour and half was enough, but you might choose to stay longer, especially, if you are carrying your own food and beverages, since we didn't spot any restaurant/ cafe there. Also, there's ample parking space right outside the entry gate.

A Must when in Oman, its beautiful with so much to do. the place needs some physical activity, you walk for 45 min to a pool then swim and walk to the cave... don't miss the cave as its the best of the trip.

This is a place that looks good on an iphone-sized instagram post, but in real life, it is exceedingly underwhelming and overcrowded. The "national park" that it is located is a big, flat, parking lot sized area crowded with children's playgrounds and sad, shackled camels posing with local families. The sinkhole itself is really small and unimpressive - yes, the color of the water is pretty, but if you've been to any swimming hole in Texas, you've seen water this color. I didn't go much out of my way to visit here (it is 5 minutes off the main highway from Muscat to Sur), but I regret that I spent any time here. I highly recommend that if you want to go swimming, you go to the (beautiful and empty) beaches all along the coast and/or the (crowded but at least scenic) wadis.

Visiting the Bimmah Sinkhole was an inspiring experience. This hidden gem is a true marvel of nature, tucked away in Oman's beauty. The crystal-clear turquoise water is inviting, and the limestone walls surrounding it create a breathtaking scene.

It's a perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle, connecting with nature in its purest form.

The site is well-maintained, with easy access and facilities nearby. I highly recommend a visit to the Bimmah Sinkhole for anyone seeking tranquility and a touch of nature's magic. A definite must-see!

Located about an hour and a half from Muscat, easily reachable by car. It’s close to sea and the road to reach it offer spectacular views. It’s a closed off, but free, park, very well maintained. The sink hole is amazing, the water is transparent and blue, with the dramatic change of color of the sand colored walls it makes it a wow experience. A steep set of steps take you down and up, so try not to go in the hot hours. You can have a refreshing bath, but when you come back up the sun is very strong. Beautiful experience not to be missed

It was our first time visiting a sinkhole. We had an amazing experience. Even though it was a beautiful place, the water didn’t appear clean. The steps were steep albeit not hard to walk if you took your time. It was easy to get to the sinkhole and plenty of parking for visitors. We found out there were lots of travellers just like us, stopping over as they head to Muscat city or to Sur, Turtle Reserve. It’s a lovely place plenty for picnics or just to rest. Our kids enjoyed spending time at the playground nearby!

beautiful place. Rent a car before you go there - amazing colors for the water. Don't go during Eid season since it was very crowded, we couldn't swim in the water.
make sure to go early morning, we went around noon, and it was very hot.
Ladies should wear conservative clothes (not above the knee, and no spaghetti straps)

make sure to make a stop later to "Fins" beach, it's very close to the sinkhole.

This sinkhole is safe to swim in and has plenty of parking on site. If you choose to swim there are some little fish in the sinkhole that will "clean" your feet and from what we are told they are mostly harmless. The sinkhole is part of some tours but we saved some money renting a car and driving ourselves there. It takes about an hour and a half to get to from Muscat and you'll be treated to some spectacular views along the way.

The sinkhole itself is neat to check out and there are stairs to access and a nice garden to sit in. There are some rooms to get changed in and use toilets but there isn't much space. It is free to enter and is a well maintained area with some security. The sinkhole is between the mountains and the sea.

Disappointing. You don't pay entry so you can go out onto the street and take some photos. A real "pool" which is accessed by a rather steep staircase. The smelly water (like stagnant lake water) full of small fish that eat the skin on your feet. You have nothing to support things so you leave them on the ground, one piled on top of the other. Definitely a more impressive place in photos than in person
