The two parts of the Parco Archeologico di Castelseprio that we saw were the ruins of a a Roman fort and then a Lombard monastery and town and the Church of Santa Maria Fortas Portas. This is an amazing, surprising site, complete with famous, delicate early medieval frescoes of high quality, but it's not a cool, amjusing place for tromping around with kids. What's left are remains from the Lombard kingdom, a myth or mystery to most educated people. If you are curious, go! And use a guidebook so that the ruins start to look... More

This attraction has no reviews in English, which is a real shame, because it is really interesting. We visited the Archaeological Park of Castelseprio exactly one year ago, on August 4th, 2013. It was a Sunday, which is the best day to visit, because everything is actually open for sightseeing. Castelseprio is just one part of a larger UNESCO World... More
