Great little museum

This museum is really worth a visit. It may be in a little village but has some great Roman artifacts. Give some time on your trip for a visit here and the amphitheatre.

The displays in the museum are interesting and give plenty of food for thought. An audio tour is available, and there are plenty of notes about the exhibits. A fascinating insight into the Roman occupation of this part of Wales, supplemented by the nearby ruins of the amphitheatre and baths. A small but very interesting display with helpful staff. And... The museum is a good starting point when visiting the Caerleon Roman history. Modern, well displayed and beautiful exhibits. small car park close by. great coffee shop opposite. The museum also offers a coffee machine, toilets and fascinating dress up play for children. We were very impressed with friendly helpful staff

Caerleon I booked The Priory Hotel with the idea of making a day trip to Caerphilly Castle. We knew that there was a Roman museum in Caerleon, but had no idea that it had been a Roman Garrison called Isca (after the river, which is now called the Usk). We decided to spend our day in Caerleon instead, and explore.... More

Thank you for your review, and I am sorry you had such a poor visit. I am obviously very concerned by your experience on a trip to Caerleon. May I ask if you're sure it was the Museum that you received this treatment in? I ask because in your description you say that you were told to use the toilet... More

Really enjoyed my visit to this museum which was much better than I expected. Having been to other sites in the UK the museums are often very small with only a few artefacts. This museum has managed to present the Roman site of Caerleon in an interesting and informative way

The coin and weapons collections are a real eye opener into how sophisticated they Romans actually were. I personally would like to have seen a bit more reference to the Silurian Celts who were shown, but not explained... More
