Thank you for your review, and I am sorry you had such a poor visit. I am obviously very concerned by your experience on a trip to Caerleon. May I ask if you're sure it was the Museum that you received this treatment in? I ask because in your description you say that you were told to use the toilet... More

Really enjoyed my visit to this museum which was much better than I expected. Having been to other sites in the UK the museums are often very small with only a few artefacts. This museum has managed to present the Roman site of Caerleon in an interesting and informative way

This is a small exhibition, with however, some superb artefacts. The found glass jewellery here is amazing and has to be seen. The coin and weapons collections are a real eye opener into how sophisticated they Romans actually were. I personally would like to have seen a bit more reference to the Silurian Celts who were shown, but not explained... More

Well laid out with good facilities and friendly staff. Excellent collection of Roman remains and portrayals of military outfits. The visiting school kids certainly seemed to be enjoying themselves. Good selection of merchandise plus the amphitheater is just down the road.

It was very quiet when we arrived at the museum and that provided us time to wander around and explore the museum at our leisure, admiring the artifacts and relics dating back to when the Romans roamed this area of Wales. The museum is well done, with good signage throughout the building.

There is a lot to see here. Caerleon (Welsh, Caerlleon) is effectively a small village on the outskirts of Newport City. It is well-signposted off the M4 motorway. The Roman Army established a permanent garrison there in around 74 AD and remained there for about 200 years or so. The site has one of the largest (complete) emphitheatres in Britain,... More

Great amount of relics and information about the history of Caerleon. Worth a visit. The children get to dress up and there is a play area.

I was lucky enough to visit the museum during my recent visit to Wales. The artefacts, being reminders of what happened during the Roman times, will be there for years to come and will assist school children when learning about the Roman period. Well worth the visit.

After a fantastic stay in the Celtic Manor, we visited Caerleon. I have visited many times with 27 + children each time, however this was the first time with my 7 year old. The lady at reception asked if he would like to play a new I pad game they had launched yesterday, of course he was interested. What a... More
