Friday 7th of February and we took a stroll along the waters edge from Gonsua Beach in the direction of Colva.
We walked to this stretch of beach which lies between Gonsua and Sunset Beaches on the South Goan coast.
It got it's name as result of the number of lovers meeting in the bushes and trees at the back of the beach.
Always assumed that this stretch of beach was part of Sunset Beach with the bushes and trees at the back known locally as Lovers Beach. Recently discovered that the beach was actually called Lovers Beach.
The beach itself is virtually deserted apart from other people walking, or the odd fishing boats grounded on the beach.
The waves of the Arabian Sea roll in onto the white sands along the Beach.
There are no beach shacks on this beach, however, there are shacks at both ends, Antonio's at Gonsua and Amri's at Sunset Beaches.
Along the back of the beach are a series of concrete wave breakers, not very attractive but necessary for land protection against tidal erosion.
Tourists would not normally venture into the trees at the beach of the beach. As well as being frequented with Lovers, it a popular spot for locals to picnic at weekends and holidays. It is not very clean, a tendency for picnickers to leave rubbish behind, rather than use the many rubbish bins on the beach.

Lover's Beach is popular for couples after dark. Getting there from the land side is tricky - you go down a long dark path and once you reach the beach you have to scramble down some rocks, we couldn't find any stairs. However you can walk along the sand from another beach instead - much easier and more pleasant. As with everywhere in Goa, it's all soft sand and clear warm water - no seaweed or other nasties.

Couples
This place is a hidden gem- perhaps one of the few natural beaches in Goa.
The is only one shack which has been there for years.
Lots of beautiful Casurina trees to hide amongst for the lovers (I wish they would take their plastics with them).
Can be busy on Sundays & holidays.
Sometimes you can see wild peacocks in the fields behind, especially at sunset

Definitely a place to visit in South Goa. A quiet and empty beach where you can enjoy a peaceful sunset with you friends and have a drink or two at the beach shacks. The timings here are limited to 7:00 p.m. in the evening due to past incidences.

I am really not sure why this is called lovers beach. Maybe because it has some green spaces just before the beach, where couples could get cozy. But this stretch of beach is just like any other in South, and not worth an exclusive lookout. If you pass by, cool.

My wife and I have been in the Alila Diwa for three weeks on a fully inclusive package. We have mostly eaten in but have ventured out a few times. Fishka across from Alila Diwa is very good and inexpensive. As is The Pentagon which also has entertainment every night. Martin's Corner is also quite good but a bit expensive. The lobster Shach at the Taj was on our wish list but we never made it. I had a linen suit made in "Charli Tailors" in Margoa about (taxi there, wait and back about 1200 rupees) and it cost me circa £80.00. Good finish and fit. Margo fish market, the meat and the fruit and veg are next door, is well worth a visit. I wouldn't recommend Arpora Market, about an hour and a half away in a taxi, it's just a tourist trap. Enjoy your trip!
