Being “in the postcard” of a Jaisalmeer desert scene has been my dream for decades. However the 11+ hour train ride didn’t excite me.
Just a few weeks ago I read that air service started in 2016. Sign me up already!
To begin, meeting Ashraf was a delight. Rajasthan is his homeland. And then . . . his safari was beyond a dream and so easy, except for the sore butt you’ll get from riding a camel for a distance. HaHa. No surprise there!
Kuldhara was worth the 15 minute exploration on foot, but the stop at the lake was …. unnecessary? I’m curious to know what was the “Small village tour
(cultural village, gypsy village)” that’s mentioned on the MysticJaisalmer.com website though. Did I miss something? Otherwise we saw, rode, ate, and did everything else.
It felt very personal to meet our Marwadi guides, cooks, camel whisperers, vocalists, and drummers. I apologize for not remembering their names. Thank You for making this dream come true for me. 🙏

We had no intention of doing this; it was just an incident in which I met Ashraf Ji (owner of Mystic) and he suggested it to me; after hearing him, we just thought it was something different and if it is this much worth imagining, why don't we give it a try by experiencing it? Trust me, I never make bad decisions :p and so was it, imagine sleeping under the stars, doing a camel ride for 2 hours instead of the usual 15-20 minutes, friendly people, and a great jeep ride in 4*4 thar, quiet place with no people around you only you and stars, stop reading and start experiencing, give it a try and mark my words, you won't regret it, you'll just love it. Thank you for hosting, Ashraf ji. I had a great time.

I travelled solo with no intention of visiting dunes however one of my friends booked the safari for me from another agency where I was sleeping under the stars yes but, I could see windmills electric poles and a lot if people. It didn't feel special at all. I was disappointed as I expected a very different experience.
As I was staying with Mystic Jaisalmer, I was accompanied with a blogger and the amazing owner of the place for the safari.
It was far away from Jaisalmer. No people no network away from all the problem. Great thar ride till the location with camel safari. Camels were well fed and treated extremely well. Umed and Peru being the amazing cook, Cooked full mean of thick roti, mixed veg Sabzi, dhal and rice for the dinner and trust me it tastes soo good ❤. I loved sleeping under billion stars and enjoying every bit of it.
The next morning we returned back having healthy breakfast with some bread butter jam, fruits and chai.
Then I realized why some safaris are expensive than the other. Highly recommend The billion stars experience for their hospitality, food and everything else that made the best experience of my life.

A well organised package by Mystic Jaisalmer. You first drive into the desert in jeep to watch a magical sunset. Then you’re taken to the campsite where you’re served welcome drinks... since I don’t drink tea and since it was pretty cold, they offered me a ginger honey lemon tea. We then proceeded to watch the cultural program... beautiful music and dance performances by some great musicians while enjoying some delicious appetisers! After the performance everyone danced around the bonfire (they do take care of the social distancing norms). And then we were served some nice food: some traditional Rajasthani dishes and some North Indian.
The tents are ensuite, very spacious and comfortable... hot water is also made available. So it’s basically luxurious camping in the desert. Next morning you leave post breakfast (you get dropped back to the hotel)

All in all a great experience!

A very well arranged trip to the desert. You reach the desert on camels/ or jeep. Watch the sunset, sit huddled around a bonfire exchanging beautiful stories, singing melodies, dancing your heart out! Eat simple food cooked right there which tastes so incredibly delicious and then sleep huddled up under perhaps more than a billion stars! What a breathtaking view it is! What an unforgettable experience it is! Witness a beautiful sunrise the next morning. With this you take with you a part of the desert...!

Tell your host Mr. Ashraf Ali if you are looking for something else and he will customise the trip for you.

Muste see if you are in Jaisalmer. In the hotel Mystic Jaisalmer you will get all the details. The owner is a gret host. You will get more than you can expect. That was a surprise, I didn't know what to expect. Geep safari, camel riding at sunset, time to meditate, quiet time for yourself on the sand, then dinner with my friends with music, dance and fire. The tents are luxuriously equipped with their own toilet, it was simply magical. For a romantic occasion or to spend time with friends. Simply perfec ....

This was my second trip with Mystic Jaisalmer and I can say that nothing has changed since 2013 when I took my first trip with Mystic Jaisalmer. Same loneliness of desert and fine sand dunes where one can sit and relax, far from the crowd and hooligans shouting and dancing at Sam dunes. Compliment to Mr. Ashraf for keeping the original shape of tour alive amidst the commercial growing world of Jaisalmer.

I did this desert trip with a friend and it was really well organized and very private.
It was a very relaxing experience. The food cooked by the team in the desert was really good.
