About
Our story goes back a long way. Over a hundred years and five generations in fact. From running cattle to fruit growing, our family's experience and love for agriculture has remained strong. We've learnt a few things along the way; paramount being conservation. Being stewards of the land which has provided for so many, for so long, is a task we take seriously. Come visit our straw bale wine shop.

- Sandra H1 contributionAwesome wine and cute placeNigel the owner and wine tour guide was fantastic. We learned so much about the property and product. We loved the quaint place and high quality product, especially the unique flavour of the Heritage Pinot Noir. 10/10Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 6 November 2023

We stopped at this winery after hearing about it from our friends, this is an absolute stop if you are in the Okanagan. Our kids played with all the animals on site, had a pizza and enjoyed the view of the lake.
We found out they do weddings and booked ours for 2023!!! So excited!!

Used to quite enjoy visiting this winery, visited Sunday morning and while I understand there is a labour shortage perhaps some customer service training would be a welcome addition. Winery visits are not only about the wine it's the whole experience. The guy at the counter could use some training. Good tip, even if you are busy, acknowledging guests with a simple " I will be right with you goes a long way. It actually prevents customers that would be purchasing wine from walking out.

Kathy, this is not something that we would like to have happened to you. Each and every visit we do our best to make your experience great. I do hope you can go back to your previous visits and know that’s not a feeling we want our guests to have. Each review and guest experience is very important as we are a small family owned and operated winery. If you could contact me I would be happy to have you in for a personal tasting with me. Nigel paynter Proprietor. Email nigel@offthegridorganicwinery.com . Thanks so much in advance.

We were truly looking forward to this visit. We visited over 15 wineries during our vacation and this visit was one we were quite excited about. Maybe this explains our disappointment. Because of COVID-19 they have extreme measures in place. You cannot visit the site; you can only order wine from a stand close to the parking and then pick a table and stay there. Although there was not shad at available at the remaining tables, no umbrellas despite the 35+ C weather etc. We could not move from the table or get close to a tree for some shade. One of us attempted to do so and was warned right away to remain at the table. This is very different from any winery that we visited and that made us feel welcomed despite their strict measures in place. We are all for the safety measures. We actually wear our masks everywhere despite the fact it is not mandatory. Again we just felt unwelcome and left disappointed. Considering all the great comments maybe we were just unlucky...

Thank you for the feed back. We are trying our best to provide a safe environment for all guests during this time. This has been a learning experience as our wine shop is built from straw and is not very large. We have arranged Multiple tasting table outside and The picnic area has be arranged with social distancing in mind. More shade umbrellas is a fantastic idea especially with how we are no into the heat of the Okanagan summer.
Thanks Nigel

Off the grid is one of the best wineries around. They have nice and friendly staff and you feel welcomed right away. The winery is a bit higher up, which gives you an incredible view of West Kelowna and the lake. In addition to wine tastings, they have yoga and live music once a week. Through the food truck, you can pair the wine with excellent food. The goats, sheep and rabbits mean that even younger visitors are welcome. I wasn't a wine drinker before, but this is where I had my first wine tasting and where I discovered my love for wine. This was the starting point into the wine world, so this winery has a special place in my heart and I highly recommend it. If you're in the area, you can't avoid off the grid winery.

Have lived in West Kelowna for 5 years and every year we try to visit 3-4 new wineries and yesterday we had the chance to visit Off the Grid and had a great experience. My wife and I have always said that it is the people at the winery who can make or break your tasting experience and we must say that the people at Off the Grid were fantastic for our Sip with your Sweetheart tour. The wines were nice too. My wife and I will be back and would recommend this winery as one of your stops when touring West Kelowna. Thanks for the experience. Just and FYI it is a little more rustic than some of the other wineries but we enjoyed that , but it should go without saying with a name like Off the Grid :)

This is our favourite winery on the west side. Family friendly. Great views. Lots to see and do. Food is good and great parking in and out. Really comfortable setting and they make you feel at home and not pretensious. If you are looking for a fun spot to try great wine, this is it.

We had such great experience in this little heaven. Tania (who also speaks french!!) was a charm! We took the tasting with the combination of food, that's really particular to this winery as Sheri the wine maker is a chef. It really gives an edge to the whole experience, and the wine is simply delicious ;) The animals are a BIG +++ so fun! Great for kids.
