Super loud music. If you want to relax, just do not go. You are in a beautiful beach but surrounded by pubs with the music like a disco. By midday your headache is asking you to leave.
Beautiful beach, horrible environment.

Lovely beach! There are a lot of restaurants along the road and on the beach with sun beds and music, but either go south or north for a quiter day. The beach is pebbles, the sea was lovely and uncrowded.

Some years ago it might have been a nice an quiet beach. Now it is very noisy and crowded. For hedonists, not for peace and nature loving people.

Dhermi was really a disappointment.
It might have been our fault due to our expectations, but what we saw was an absolute ghost town.
After 15 September and before June you will just be facing a ghost town. Out of the 20 beach clubs, only one is open, and it belongs to an hotel (La Brisa), where you pay 5€ for a bottled beer and no one is having fun.
No one understands more than a few words of English and everything is way more expensive than it should be, even in markets.
The restaurants that are open are only waiting to finish their stocks and close until May, for instance, you will not be able to have a pizza or a kebab anywhere, since the stock is gone and you either eat a chicken with rice (fried in oil) or some dish that they might be able to do with what they have left.
Be careful when you go to the abandoned beach clubs, as the most likely thing if you are not aware is that you will get a rusty nail stuck in your foot - and I am not kidding, if you go there you will find lots of rusty nails on the floor.
Most important advices for Albania (and not only Dhermi):
- Always pay in Lek (Albania’s Currency) if you pay in Euro, you will pay around 20% more.
- Have as much Lek as you can in cash, as the Banking system here is a complete joke - whenever you want to make an withdrawal, you have to pay 6€/7€ of atm fees, accrued of credit card fees (we payed 15€ for each withdrawal), if you have Revolut you only pay the atm fees.
- If you pay with a debit/credit card, make sure it is a Revolut (or a similar one), otherwise you will end up paying around 10€ in fees for each payment.
- If you are an EU citizen, always try to connect to Greek network, as it is free.
- Always try to speak English to younger people, or try to have someone translating, older people do not understand nothing at all. For you to understand, the person we met that had a better English was 9/10 year-old who was helping her parents at the restaurant.
Last but not least!! - Please do not misunderstand me, if you want to relax, chill and no one bothering you, this is the perfect time to come to Albania - after September 15.
On the other hand, if you are more like me and like movement, the best is to come at the beginning of July or beginning of September, otherwise it is packed.
And most important of all, Albania is a very safe country, I left my belongings unattended, I walked at night on dark streets alone and never felt uncomfortable.
Albania is a great country, the most important is to manage your expectations considering the dates!

Water is crystal clear and the beach is mostly clean and tidy. Lovely spot. A few nice beach bars and restaurants along the shore.

I went to Dhermi for a festival. The beach is beautiful and the weather was amazing.
However most people at the festival did not feel safe. There was a lot of leering from Albanian men, and also sexual harassment from bar staff (offer of massage for a tip).
I was approached by a group of Albanian men and asked if I was on my own. When I said yes, they encouraged me to go with them for a drink (into the bushes weirdly).
Bar staff frequently over-charged people (it happened to me and others).
Some of the stairs on the beach to get to places didn't feel safe.
My accommodation claimed to be 3 stars, and I don't think it was. The power would cut out when a fuse tripped, and I ended up eating my dinner in darkness at the restaurant. I would recommend booking accommodation that's 4 stars or above to avoid things like this.
In Drymades there are a lot of stray dogs and dog poo on the beach which isn't great either.
Sorry to be negative, but I just don't think it's safe to go to!

I'm looking to travel from sanande to dhermi beach and was looking to book a taxi upfront. Is this possible, can't seem to be able to locate a taxi firm, also what can I expect to pay? Thanks in advance.

Well, from Saranda to Dhermi Beach it's quite a long journey. We had a car and it took more tan two hours to get there. The distance is about 70-75 km but it is not a motorway! If you are staying in an hotel you might be in touch with them to seek help in finding contact details for a taxi.

Andare a Gabicce o Vieserbella , meglio
