The Deeg palace was really nice. Large grounds, garden impart beauty to the place. The palace has lot of history and is very interesting. One can have a glimpse of the way rulers lived in that era. Could have been maintained better to attract more tourists.

We visited Deeg palace during our visit to Bharatpur since its just one hour drive from Bharatpur.
Fortunately we got a very experienced guide who explained us the palace in great details. Without him, it would have been just a set of well constructed buildings. He provided us with all the details and that added to the joy of visiting the palace.
The most important aspect of this palace is the network of 2000+ fountains that get water supply from the water tank with a capacity of 600,000 gallons of water, constructed at a height. It also has an arrangement of spraying colorful water thru it. This entire arrangement is constructed 250+ years back and is still functional. It's operated only twice a year.
the fort is surrounded by two lakes that are interlinked and this keeps the place cooler even during summer.
The area where the kings used to have entertainment programs is also amazing. IT had an arrangement of creating a feeling of thunder even during the summer-time. This all gives a feel of advanced architecture in India during those historic times.
It has an ancient guest house which is made us of marble and has Mughal architecture that one gets to see in Taj Mahal. This entire building was looted from Mughals during the war, each inter-locked stone was separated with proper numbering and was assembled after bringing the stones here! Just the though and project management behind it is astonishing. It has a marble structure for a large swing that was used by the queen of that time. This too was won from Mughals during the war. In the Indian history, one gets to see ample examples of Mughals looting the Kingdoms; however Deeg Palace is perhaps the only place where one gets to see many things looted from Mughals! A great feeling to watch this.
The gardens in the palace are superb too and are reasonably well maintained. The museums are worth watching too.
There is a beautiful idol of Lord Hanuman, made up of brown colored jade stone (usually jade is green in color; however here it's brown jade).
Overall a very good place to visit. Please ensure that you get a knowledgeable guide to explain the intricacies.

You definitely need a guide if you visit this place - we walked into the palace and had spent just 5 min there when we thought it was just another palace and nothing extraordinary. However, then a guide walked up to us and started telling us about the palace. We then engaged him and he gave us a walking tour telling us about the history and stories of the palace. That made the trip worthwhile

I love historical palaces so I visited Deeg palace. It was the summer capital of the Maharaja of Baharatpur. The palace is sort of an architectural marvel. There are 2 lakes on 2 sides of the palace which were used to supply water for fountains. The lakes are in bad shape, dirty water and smelly. But some portions of the palace are well-preserved. Once in a year all the fountains are functional to give a real feel of the palace. Visit if you are interested in history.

The Deeg Palace is around 40 km from Bharatpur and said to be most symmetrical structure after Tajmahal.
How to reach?
There is an alternate route from “Bharatpur” to “Jaipur” through “Alwar” which passes through “Deeg”. The road is in good condition and the distance of 40 km can be easily covered in an hour.
Places to see
Deeg Place, Lohargarh Fort and Keoladeo Ghana National Park Bharatpur are in close vicinity. Entry to Deeg palace was free due to lord Hanuman temple in the complex, but if you want to visit the Jat King Surajmal Palace then a nominal ticket of 5 INR is charged that includes a guided tour of the palace, King’s guest room and dining space, separate for vegetarian and non vegetarian food, his personal assistant’s office, a place where he used to play chess, and his bedroom with a real king size bed that was 8 by 12 sizes as the king Surajmal was himself of 6 and a half feet height. Photography was prohibited inside. The palace was very beautiful with a well maintained garden all around the complex. Fountain show is fixed twice a year, 4th of February and the 8th day after the Indian festival of Raksha-Bandhan. Locals are used to sit and relax in this beautiful complex.
Where to stay?
There are plenty of accommodation options available from deluxe heritage hotels to budget accommodation in Bharatpur. There are forest rest houses and PWD Dak bungalows also available.
Bharatpur National Park and Deeg Palace and can be easily visited in a day trip from Delhi. But if you intend to stay here then Bharatpur Forest Lodge can be your choice. It’s a government undertaking, situated amidst the natural greenery of the park. Mathura and Vrindavan is also not far from Deeg Palace.
What to eat?
Since Bharatpur is a sleepy little town, all places close at around 10 o’clock in the night. So, don’t make it too late for your dinner. One good place to eat is the restaurant at the Laxmi Niwas Palace which is a Heritage Hotel near the park. Since a lot of foreigners stay there, so you can find some amazing continental dishes there.
We started back in 7 in the evening from the Deeg Palace to Delhi. From “Deeg” there is a route to “Govardhan” and then “Mathura” total about 40 km. By 10 we were at home cherishing the memory of the day and another destination to talk about.

I did not go there with big expectations but it turned out to be worth a visit. This place has amazing architecture..Kind of reminded me of Mughal Architecture. The biggest problem is reaching this place. It is 32 kms from Bharatpur and the roads are extremely bad, bumpy with potholes everywhere and very few signs to indicate the place... Something should be done for the roads leading to Deeg and also the upkeep of the place.

Awesome Place, especially for architecture lovers like myself, with plush fountains, lavish gardens, beautiful buildings to get yourself clicked, and an entire building from the mughal era which was brought here from the agra fort as booty, along with the white marble swing of Noorjehan. A delight and a must visit place and fort if you are going to bharatpur .....

Not a lot of people seem to find Deeg - it is between Agra and Jaipur, near Bharatpur. Visitors go to Agra and Jaipur - whilst a few particularly interested in the nature reserve get to Bharatpur
Deeg feels as if you have gone back to the days of the Raj. You can imagine Mountbatten sitting with the Maharajar. It still has a lots of the old furniture and the ceiling fans are in place. Make sure they show you the fan machine

Deeg is said to be a part of lord Krishna's Parikrama path which is falling in the Bharatpur district,Rajasthan, India. This place is known for its beautiful gardens, forts, fountains and palaces.
As we were in search of a break from our regular lives, we found Deeg could be one such place. It is just 225 kms away from Delhi but still it is away from the huge crowd, a small and peaceful village with unbeatable landscape and opportunities to see the wonderful play of nature. A perfect place to spend an entire day with families, who seek a change of culture and not just relief.

Do check out the exhibits of fountains in this palace. Stay away from the monkeys. They seemed a little too rowdy. I wish the palace was more maintained or restored. There is just so much of potential.
