As others have said, this is an absolute must see. The sanctuary was set up about 15 years ago, though has only been open to visitors for about 5 years, to rescue European Brown bears that have been held in captivity, often in quite appalling...More

This is an amazing place and a must visit. The sanctuary is amazing - it has acheived its cause of saving brown bears, and educating people about co-existing with these adorable creatures (a lot more to be done they say, but I think it is...More

Beautiful animals each with their own history which is shared to visitors by a short film and a guided tour. Whilst the bear's accommodation is excellent the facilities for humans are rather basic, a small shop, visitors center and horrendous toilet. The terrain is steep...More

This sanctuary gives 101 mostly abused and traumatized bears a second chance at a happy life. What impressed me the most was the dedication of the employees to the cause, especially the tour guides. I also highly recommend a visit to the gift shop as...More

It was an amazing experience. Although the price was a bit high, if you take into account the fact that they have to feed and take care of 100 bears, in addition to the deer and wolves they have on site, it's not that much...More

Amazing place, people, and stories. This is a sanctuary, do not expect a zoo. The animals are important, not your entertainment. Donate and adopt a bear if you can. No, you won't take him home. I could bring my dog so if yours behaves just...More

We’re a couple who booked an online English speaking tour. The tours are only in the mornings. The road towards the site is not paved and there’s a metal bridge that can easily pierce and burst tyres! Be warned. We arrived and then a few...More

The sanctuary is open throughout the winter see the website (ampbears) but only 2 tours per day. As it is remote if the weather is inclement it could be difficult to get to.
