Stepping through those castle gates has a sense of stepping into another world, a wonderful peace washes over me every time. My wife and I sought the place out on our first visit to Snowdonia and have been periodically returning ever since. The castle has...More

After reading Judy Corbett's Castles in the Air, we were excited about staying at Gwydir. The book warned of a few cobwebs and stone walls thick enough to withstand a medieval siege. Any concerns were immediately nullified by an immaculately clean and beautiful warm King's...More

What an astounding place. Virtually empty on a Sunday morning. We had free run of the place. Atmospheric and authentic with a loved feeling that must have come from the couple who restored the place over the last 30 years or so. An absolute gem....More

Really enjoyed our visit to this magnificent castle! The owners have done a wonderful job. Well worth the £6 entry fee, the gardens are also beautiful and one peacock in particular was very friendly. An easy walk from Llanrwst.

Yes. I can't recall the amount but it wasn't much and it goes toward the continuing restoration so you might contribute a little extra if you can. The tour is self-guided. One of the owners, Judy Corbett, has written a... More
