Overview

Discover Tegg's Nose Country Park and experience Cheshire's wild hill country where rock dominates the landscape. Dry stone walls and sturdy barns add to the dramatic character of the steeply sided valleys while many of the hill tops are pitted with old quarries. Quarrying was certainly happening at Tegg's Nose in the 1500's and continued until 1955. Men blasted, hammered, hacked and chiselled away at the rock in harsh conditions for low wages. Today nature has softened the scars of industry and there is plenty to see at Tegg's whatever time of year. You don't have to go far to enjoy exhilarating views over the Cheshire Plain and on a clear day you can see Liverpool's cathedrals and Welsh hills beyond. The car park provides an excellent base for numerous walks and throughout the year there are many events taking place at the visitor centre.

We were nearby after dropping off toys at the charity pet shelter and decided to take our dog for a walk. Great location and views, paths well maintained. Our dog loved it and the signage marking the way. Make sure you visit, super.

A lovely day out not far from Macclesfield, with a reasonably priced café near the car park. If you wish to avoid the car park fee introduced by Cheshire East council some years ago there is a lay by just up the road near the...More

Our first visit to the area, our friend took us on a drive. We stopped at the park and just soaked in the views. So beautiful. So relaxing. I can see why so many people appreciate it.

Yes, there is a route which is accessible to prams and wheelchairs but as stated above it is a mixture of sandstone rough paths and some grass. If you download the 'Walks for All' leaflet from the Cheshire East website... More
