As English heritage members, this is a lovely castle to pop in to whilst in town. Always a pleasure to visit.

Not to be visited on a wet day, nesting kestrels, and very interesting ruins. Could do with a small tea room, and more info.

Really interesting place to visit. Obviously with very young children we didn't stay as long as we may have done but we got a good hour out of it and it's not expensive. Very friendly and funny lady at the office/shop. Anyone who can get a high-five out of our shy children is doing something right. Finished the visit off... More

I'm a Pickering resident so I get a pass for a pound from the memorial hall. Good example of an old medieval castle. Love the church inside. Good for picnics on summer days. Lovely walk around and thru the woods also

Great hidden gem! Had a lovely time wondering around the Pickering castle. This was an unexpected visit during a business trip to the area, so was quite late in the afternoon. Very glad I took the time to investigate.

Visited Pickering Castle as part of a birthday weekend at Rockland Lodges. The castle itself is run by National Heritage and entrance is quite steep for what it is! I appreciate the history behind the Castle and the expense incurred to maintain it, but at best this was a 30 minute time filler and we strolled pretty slowly!

Day to come is when there are activities in the castle. Pickering is renound for its war weekend everyone dresses in world... More

Beautiful calm walk on a warm day. Really pretty location. Ideal for when you want to have some quiet time. If it's a warm day grab an icecream and enjoy the surroundings.
