This is a wonderful site to see. This castle like building gives you the wonderful feel of old Scotland without the crowds. There was no one there when we visited the site and that is typical from what we heard.

I thought it would be a stroll along the river, but it was more along roads. The abbey itself is a complete ruin, the standing structure is the bell tower. That was fine with me, as I love bell towers.

Be aware that the abbey ruins are only open over the summer. Entry is free, I didn't even see a box for donations. The location is 20-30 minutes' walk from Stirling Old Town (depending on how fast you walk) but you will then be halfway...More
