Quirky and Interesting museum.

What a fantastic day. We visited as part of our 2 week annual holiday to southport, and may I say myself, my boy and in particular my wife couldn't get enough. We got lots of of photos of various lawnmower, and my wife couldn't believe it when I pointed out to her that you had the very first flymo on... More

I'd read about this museum on the Internet and it sounded.... different. So I thought I'd take a look. The museum itself is slightly outside the town centre, about a 15-minute walk from the rail station. However, there is also a bus stop outside the museumi. It's quite easy to find as with Southport being a touristy place there are... More

They were a bit rude on the desk but I enjoyed seeing all the merchandise and the lawn mowers with many on display.

As it happens I hate golf and the day we went to the lawnmower museum Southport was bathed in glorious winter sunshine but we went anyway and I can't agree less with Janet S who believes it is only for people who are already obsessed with lawn mowers (I dislike gardening almost as much as golf and have very little... We came across a leaflet for the Lawnmower Museum while were visiting Southport. The site is off the main road but well signed posted. We had a very enjoyable visit. Didn't know there were so many types of lawnmowers. Some had been donated by celebrities, some brought back memories of lawnmowers gone before. Well worth a visit. There is an... More

Forget all the anorak jokes. This has got to be one of the quirkiest and nest attractions. The recorded commentary for upstairs rooms in very good and the displays are hugely informative . The guys in the shop said that there will be a new commentary produced to cover the downstairs area. My only suggestion for the commentary was to... More

I've just had my lawnmower cutters sharpened. The mower cuts just as well as it did when new - brilliant Reasonably priced quick service.

My Dad is a machine enthusiast so I decided to take him to see this unusual museum. Specifically focused on British machines for cutting grass from scythes to ultra-modern robots this museum should have a very narrow appeal, however the enthusiasm of the displays combined with the large number of rare and unusual machines in the collection make this a... Being a bit of an anorak, I was really keen to see this museum, and I wasn't disappointed. Beautifully kept, stuffed with items and with an amusing audio commentary to guide you through it. So worth the £3 entry fee.
