Carew Castle and Tidal Mill’s rich history spans over 2,000 years and tells of knights of the realm, kingmakers, Elizabethan intrigue and Civil War devastation.

Set in a stunning location overlooking a 23-acre Millpond, the Castle is one of the most architecturally diverse in Wales; from the west a Norman fortress, yet from the north a splendid Elizabethan mansion.

The site also incorporates the only restored Tidal Mill in Wales, an 11th century Celtic cross, a Medieval bridge and picnic area all linked by a mile-long circular walk, suitable for buggies and wheelchairs, with magnificent views over the Millpond.

This is an excellent value for money attraction with the castle and mill open under 1 ticket price only 5.50 per adult. It's an interesting couple of hours with great walks and plenty of benches for a picnic in beautiful surroundings. The Carew cross is also in the castle grounds. They have plenty of things going on through the year... More

Weather perfect when we visited... start with the castle then backtrack over the bridge and down to the Mill for the best views. Reasonable fee to visit both.... really relaxing and peaceful location.... dogs allowed.

We were impressed! Great castle and I love the fact how it has not been restored as such but instead left as a ruin that is looked after. We really enjoyed looking around both the castle and the mill. The lady working in the mill who sold us the tickets was very friendly and helpful and I loved the fact... More

Carew Castle was the 3rd castle my husband and I visited while on a weekend break in the area. It certainly didn't disappoint. The parking is free and access is level and easy. The castle itself is largely ruins but it's huge so plenty to explore. The Lesser Hall is really interesting. A word of warning that the stairs are... More

We were unsure wether to go in or not as the outside looks derelict. So glad we did. Very interesting castle with lots of nooks and crannies and good information. The walk around the millpond to the mill is also a pleasure. This can be done without visiting the castle and is a good dog walk. Chlldren would love it... More

The castle is in a wonderful setting, make sure to cross the bridge to get a photo of the castle with the water in front. It is an interesting Castle to explore and the mill is also worth a visit, you can get in to the mill free if you have a ticket for the castle.

' Classic Cars at the castle' so went along to see. Free parking is always welcome! Over 50 classic or vintage cars to admire in the area outside the castle walls The castle itself is well worth the visit but with the addition of a fun quiz sheet for children what more could you want
