Affectionately dubbed the "Mother Road," this 2,400-mile route was the first all-weather, continuously paved highway linking Chicago and Los Angeles. The storied path is legendary for spawning America's signature roadside architecture and attractions, vestiges of which remain today.

First experience with Rte 66 was when we got off I-40 at Seligman (from eastbound) where we promptly got a flat tire. Conveniently right across the street from "Historic Route 66 Automotive" . Unfortunately he didn't have a tire that fit our car, so he loaded us on a flatbed and hauled us to Flagstaff (our planned destination). In his... More

We love old cars so we figured we would drive from Las Vegas to Kingman to Hackberry on Route 66. It was a peaceful drive and we had tons of fun in Hackberry exploring the store and all the old cars. We thought we would see more historical signs or plaques along the way but nothing It still is pretty... More

We have been coming down from Canada to California by car for over 5 years. This year we decided to check out some of the areas along the old Route 66. We took the route from arizona to missouri via the Old Route 66. It was so interesting an informative to visit all the attractions associated with the route.

We drove along the original route 66 stopping in Seligman to visit the Barbers Shop. Lots of old cars, some that looked like the cars seen in the 'Cars' movie.

We drove the Arizona and California portions of Route 66 and had a wonderful time. Some of the highlights included: 1) Kingman, Arizona - We went to the Route 66 Museum, Mohave Museum, and other sites. There is also a nice Route 66 diner in Kingman, as well as distilleries and wineries. 2) Oatman, Arizona - We drove the Sitgreaves... More

We've been on just about every stretch of 66 from the Midwest to California. Last week we drove a 300+ mile stretch of state route 99 (notice the irony of the upside down 66) in CA. And mile for mile, it seems that there are more quirky things to do along 99.

Seligman AZ is a revived Route 66 bypassed town reminiscent of "Radiator Springs" from the movie "Cars". Seligman is a major tourist stop en route to Grand Canyon for German, French and Italian tour buses. It has colorful route 66 memorabilia shops with busy sales counters and a not too pricey excellent comfort food (German and American) restaurant --Westside Lilo's... More
