The horses go up and down the main promenade in Douglas and can be hailed from various stops along the route. It is great for children to get up and personal with these fine animals.

My first efforts to photograph the horse tramway were thwarted by motorists who got in the way of each shot. It was late afternoon on a cold and windy day when we took our 1½-mile ride along the Promenade, back to our hotel. On a...More

Such fun and so convenient to access electric railway. We were able to use Go Travel cards. Wonderful shire horses. Would have liked to visit home for old horses but it wasn't open. Do try to look at the various trams they're so diverse.

Great trip up and down the sea front. Even the dog was allowed. Not sure what she thought of it though.

We took this several times over the weekend. A good way of getting along the promenade, save the walk at the start or end of the day. Horses are well looked after and makes for a different method of travel. Go card valid.

Me my mum and brother went in this as we wanted to go into town, it was really awesome, the weather wasn't great that day but still it was totally worth it.

O.k mode of transport with many stops. Just felt sorry for the horses in the heat. Maybe. A cruel. Old fashioned. Method. That should probably be abolished. As I am a animal lover

The horse drawn trams are definitely still operating. I have just been for a short Easter break on the island at the end of March and they were up and running on a daily timetable. You can pick up an information leaflet at... More

An adult single ticket is £3 and £2 for a child. A day ticket is £6 adult and £3 child. Hope this helps. It is great experience!
