Good walk along the river, the restaurant in the photo is now an excellent independant cafe - Riverside Kitchen - highly recommended. Just a shame the council don't clear up the rubbish !!

On a sunny afternoon take a walk along the riverside and enjoy many great views of the cathedral and castle. Can choose one of the bridges to cross too find hidden streets and paths.

We enjoyed walking along the River Wear in Durham as there are great views of the Cathedral. We also saw the old mill & lots of birdlife including many cormorants resting on the weir, a heron & also a group of beautiful white geese. Some...More

We do walks from different parts of these riverbanks at so many different times of the year. Never disappointed, today we walked down from the cathedral...A steep walk down to Prebends Bridge then further down to the river edge then walked on to Framwellgate Bridge....More

Great walk along the river, can be quite slippy underfoot when leaves on the ground, especially when its been raining. You dont feel that you are in the City, but see and hear birds, lots of greenery and very tranquil.

This was a pleasant walk along the riverbank, with a decent path, although slightly muddy in places. It is not all flat and you have to deviate up and down gradients in places. We were advised to take the path by the Durham Pointers (guides)...More

The trick to getting the most from this fine walk is to slow down, look up, down and all around (including behind you) from time to time. The river view is beautiful of course, but be sure to gaze deep into the lush woodland too,...More

Took a walk along the riverside which was an average riverside walk, but was spolit by the amount of litter lying in the hedges and verges. Could be so much nicer if it was clean!

We only walked about 30 minutes on one side and back on the other so an hour altogether at a leisurely pace starting from west of the castle near silver st bridge.
