I love walking around beside the river, its peaceful and beautiful. The only sort of weather that I recommend you don't walk in is heavy rain.

Long walks possible through the city and into the countryside. The path is nice, road noise is avoided, very pretty views of the main attractions and in the country.

We walked from the City Centre market area to the Durham Cathedral. It gives amazing views of the fall fauna and best of all is stroller friendly ! Quite despite being in the city centre.

We only walked about 30 minutes on one side and back on the other so an hour altogether at a leisurely pace starting from west of the castle near silver st bridge.
