The visitor centre provided a good introduction to Durham and its long history through the exhibition and film. From here you can book tours of the Castle. There is also a small gift shop.

I would recommend a visit here even before you go to the cathedral, a superb film show with decent seats to rest your weary feet too!

Durham does get busy from time to time but the charm that the city brings is all year round so please come back and visit us again soon.

We have visited here many times and always find the service excellent, always a very friendly helpful service. There is a reception desk and shop. A play area for children to dress up and learn of our heritage. A film room with very good documentaries...More

The film is on a continuous loop, really good 'snap shot ' of the history of the catherdral, aided by little lego people !! Good for all ages. Excellent before seeing the main sights.
