We found Crook Hall after running out of things to do in Durham on Saturday. It's tucked away by the river, just 10 minutes walk from the city centre. It's small, but lovely. The gardens are beautiful, with several different styles within the grounds. The house is a mixture of medieval great hall and Georgian town house, both interesting to... More

Visited a few times. Been for afternoon tea in the house which is great and serving is lovely with vintage teacups etc. Also attended a family wedding here which was great and very different. Recently visited the cafe for an afternoon tea; cakes were amazing!! You can also buy them to takeaway. The chocolate cake was unreal! All homemade.

Wonderful place for a wedding, right in the centre of Durham with cathedral as backdrop. Lovely ceremony under the gazebo outside with weather adding its kindness too! Staff helpful, lovely afternoon tea, with excellent entertainment from Big Dave's band & a tasty hog roast in the evening. Great location!

The gardens are beautiful, and so tranquil. It's a place in the centre of Durham, but so relaxing to see. Lovely tearoom.

I think this may have been my favorite visit on our England trip last fall. The house and grounds are charming. The gardens are divided into a series of "rooms" ... each different and all interesting. Here and there you'll come across a table set for tea as if Alice and the Mad Hatter will be along shortly. And you... More
