My wife, daughter, the dog and I paid about £20 for a what turned out to be longer than 45 minute cruise around the Lake. It was very straight forward to pay at the kiosk and then board. Boat was comfortable without being luxurious. We...More

We have some the river cruise twice this week. The first time we combined it with the motor museum and the second time with the train. Both were excellent. It can be quite difficult to find attractions to visit with dogs but they were very...More

We had taken evening cruse and yellow route with train ticket. We enjoyed all the time exploring the area and it's good to travel with kids.

We spent today on Lake Windermere on Windermere Lake Cruises boat Teal. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny with just a light breeze, although obviously this is something no one has any control over. Our 24 hour "roaming" tickets meant we could get on...More

I am staying in North Lakes and visiting in April this year. Can anybody recommend 1) I am taking car, is it better to park the car at Ambleside pier or Bowness pier as I intend to take Bowness-Ambleside cruise. 2) Which one is better in terms of natural scenery: Bowness-Ambleside cruise or Bowness-Lakeside cruise if I do not want to take train or motor ticket at Lakeside 3) Which town is better to visit Bowness or Ambleside? 3) How is weather like in April?

It is better to park at Bowness as there is more parking space. Buy the 24 hour pass which enables you to get on and off the Lake Cruises where and when you want to. Ambleside is a nicer town. Coniston is worth a visit it... More
