How do you review a statue? It was erected to commemorate the visits made to Weymouth by George III and the Royal Family in the late eighteenth century. At this time the area where the king stayed (now the Gloucester Lodge a few yards away)...More

The statue it's self is wonderful, the gates surrounding it however are not. It makes the statue look silly and not great to photograph.

Easily the highlight of our visit to Dorset, the way this statue provides a majestic centre piece to buses, a perch for seagulls and still conveys the sheer majesty of the Hanoverian dynasty is breathtaking. It surely rivals the Angel of the North as a...More

Clean, lots of cafes, restaurants, shops of all kinds. Public toilets were clean. Easy parking, taxis and local bus services very good.

Fantastic looking statue situated right in the middle of the promenade. Also an excellent "signpost" for the bus stops!

Impressive statue in a very splendid port that is very traditional and popular with folk from the Midlands. Well the statue is impressive but not quite the most stunning I have seen!

It's too bad that there is a gated enclosure around the statue, you can't get really close to the lion and unicorn but the statue is so impressive it's easy to forgive.

This is a fairly central statue and focal point in the Esplanade in Weymouth. It stands on a plinth but I would say it is nothing other than average.
