Great attraction of the beaten track, had a solo guided tour of the house, which was lovely. Very interesting to learn the history of the house and of Weymouth.

This place is fortunate to survive and it the only medieval house left after council demolished the better example to make way for offices. There is a feel of some antiquity about the place, of course, and has some exhibits. It is not worth travelling any great distance to visit but if you are passing by then it is worth... More

Tudor House was built in the latter years of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I so does have some age to it as to do may of the artefacts that you will find furnishing the rooms. The tours given by our voluntary Guides not only explain the items in the House but give an insight into how the people lived... More

I've been coming to Weymouth for 21 years (my Dad owns a holiday home on the next road) and I'm embarrassed to say that this week was the first time I'd gone into the Tudor House. Admittedly it was the very restricted opening hours that often put me off but this year I made an effort to go in and... More

Thank you for taking time to leave such a lovely report about Tudor House. All our Helpers are volunteers and share a passion for history but especially the 16th & 17thc. I am sure this review will serve as great encouragement to our volunteers. It is always nice to hear that their hard work is appreciated by our visitors. We... More

We were fortunate enough to have been at the house for one of their themed days, Elizabeth to Elizabeth. The volunteers had arranged a day comparing what life was like from Queen Elizabeth 1 to Queen Elizabeth 11. We have previously had a tour of the house with their very knowledgeable and welcoming tour guides who showed us round and... More

Thank you we are so pleased that you enjoyed your Elizabeth to Elizabeth Day at Tudor House. We had many visitors on the day and hope they are enthusiastic enough about this valuable piece of Weymouth's history to return for a full tour of the house. More

We found this place when it was closed but read the signs and returned this afternoon when it was indeed open. The lady guide was very very informative and told us lots of things about local sayings and how they originate. My favourite one was Sleep tight, which was because the Tudors pulled the ropes tight on the bed before... More

Thank you so much for taking the time to return when the House was open. We rely on revenue from our visitors to keep the House in good repair so that we can open it to the public. Our volunteers really enjoy giving guided tours and we are so glad that you had such good memories to take away with... More

Visited the Tudor house while on holiday. It was very very interesting. The guided tour is a must as the people who run it are very knowledgable. It was very informative and I'm sure history enthusiasts will soak it up. It was lovey that with most of the objects you are encouraged to touch and hold them and they even... More

What an absolutely fantastic little treasure this place is. The two staff really clearly love their work and their history, they gave us a very personal and informative tour (including samples of what it might have smelled like...still not sure I've recovered from that one!). The things that have been collected and donated to the house are treasures enough themselves... More

Having spent a week in Weymouth, I never passed the Tudor House when it was open. The outside is pretty. Something confused me. 1. The sign on the front of the Tudor House noted that when built it overlooked a dock and the river. 2. Across the road there is a house which appears to be of the same architectural... More

As previously mentioned Tudor House is run by volunteers and therefore we are limited to the days & hours that we can open to the public. We would love to be able to open the House every day throughout the year but unfortunately this is impossible. The opening times of the House can be found on our web site and... More

Found this unexpectedly and had a wonderful time. The guide was interesting, knowledgeable and full of fascinating incites into the past and how it relates to the present. Well worth a visit, this made our day in Weymouth.

Thank you for taking the time to visit Tudor House which is now situated in a side street and not on the edge of a harbour inlet as in the past. Your kind comments mean a great deal to all our Helpers. More
