Wetheriggs Animal Rescue Centre is a small family run animal sanctuary based at Thorpe Farm Centre near Barnard Castle having previously been situated in Clifton Dykes near Penrith since it started in 2006. The centre is currently home to over 600 animals, many of which have been pets in the past and are now looking for new homes. We are open every day with a small admission to visit.

I came to your open day and got to see inside the exotics building. all the animals are extremely friendly and come right up to you to be petted. i definitel recommend this to any family as a day out.

Gorgeous little place where you can see and interact with the rescue animals. They have piglets, donkeys, ponies, goats and so much more. Lovely to see the animals getting so well looked after and it was a lovely experience getting so close and feeding them!...More

Wetheriggs is brilliant, went on speck,well worth it.Me and my husband will be back.I fell in love with a gorgeous lamb,pigs amazing and the goat with one horn posed for photos. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.Alison and Paul

Kids loved seeing and feeding the animals. Cafe food was good and reasonably priced too. Friendly staff. Excellent for families with small children.

I'm not going to lie, when we pulled up I didn't think it was going to be any good, however we had a great couple of hours. We paid around £10 to get in for the pair of us and my little girl was free....More
