This is a cool old bridge over the river Tees . Not a easy place to stop at if driving. But just drive over it slowly and enjoy.

Walked here from local inn. Nice views up and down river, and some good information on history of bridge. Worth seeking out.

Found this by accident. At one end of the bridge is the old toll house and it has a list of the tariff for crossing the bridge on the outside walls of the building. Makes fascinating reading. Standing on the bridge watching the water when...More

Found it by accident as lost my way. Did not know of its existence. Very narrow entrance and exit. Expected to pay toll but not needed. Very narrow lanes to navigate

This was the little suspension that greeted us on our way to the Fernavilles Rest Inn @ Whorlton what a great entrance to a super cute village. We walked back down to the bridge several times

Not a destination in itself, but interesting early example of a toll suspension bridge (no tolls to pay these days!). Best walking down from Whorlton village so enjoy the views and see the river racing through limestone pavement.
