The White Horse in Beverley is known locally as Nellie's after a very popular former licensee. It is a Samuel Smith's pub that I have visited often and know quite well. It is possibly unique in that the pub is gas lit throughout. It is...More

One of the best drinking pubs in Beverley, beautiful building possibly built when God was a lad, but such an amazing place to see. The original gas lights are still in use, the people are friendly & the ambiance is warm & welcoming !

Fantastic place to while a way an afternoon with drinks & pool. Staff were friendly, and the atmosphere itself was fascinating. Didn't have any food, but the menu looked nice enough.

Fantastic pub, throw back to when pubs were pubs. No kids, no food, just a proper drinking hole, brilliant.

Returned to Beverley with three other "grumpy Old Men" for golf and the races and of course I had to return to my favourite pub. Very pleased to say-- Yes it in my opinion it is still the best pub in England.

Hello. Children / infants are welcome, although not in the bar area, or beyond early evenings. All that is asked - especially for safety reasons, due to the nature of the historic building, with open fires - is that children... More
