What a fantastic hidden gem of a place, leisurely walks, historic buildings, well kept landscaping. All make for a fascinating place to visit, great if you are a national trust member but a little pricey if you are not.

On a winter's crisp morning, it was really nice to explore the grounds and trail-walks, seeing plenty of woodland flowers, and being surprised by a burned-out grand house, and a sort of folly. Families are exceptionally well catered for, with refreshments dotted anout, and play...More

Gibside is a lovely setting and is great for kids. However we visited last week and left feeling disappointed. The chapel was closed but there was no reduction in the entry price. We decided to have lunch at the café. My four year old grandson...More

Hi there, yes entrance to the estate is via a road and ramped access. Parts of the grounds/gardens are scooter friendly. Hope this helps.

Dogs welcome in grounds on leads; assistance dogs only allowed inside chapel and cafe's. Dogs are allowed in the library at the stables, which can be used to eat your cream scone and tea if it's rainy!
