The so-called Hospice is a small tower on Hampsfell about a mile as the crow flies above Grange Over Sands. There are several routes. We walked up Windermere Road, then followed the path through Eggerslack Woods onto the fell. Then its a short walk across...More

It was worth the effort of getting there. It was very cold and windy, just at the time the 'Beast from the East' arrived in the UK. Excellent clear views over Morecambe Bay and many of the Lake District mountains.

We love walking through Eggerslack woods to get here - the views are lovely on a clear day and it is very uplifting. The added bonus of shelter at the top is great.

As a local the ascent to the hospice is ideal for exercising the dog whether starting in Grange and going up through Eggerslack Woods or beginning by the golf course on Fell Rd. In the latter case the views are superb throughout and offer a...More

We park at the end of Spring Lane to walk up to the Hospice. Not too challenging but the views from the top are magnificent. Almost 360 degrees view on a clear day.

Unfortunately we arrived with the wind and the rain so views very limited. A real problem to us was the access paths from the south scaled two high walls via stone steps. Our elderly dog found it almost impossible as would any less able visitor...More

You get magnificent 360 views from the hospice but the walk to it is not for the faint hearted. We walked from Cartmel and some of the land was particularly wet and boggy due to the recent rain. You certainly need walking boots /shoes for...More

We visited this magical place yesterday - it was a beautiful and golden, late summer afternoon. We parked up by the fell golf club and set out on our walk - my husband, little dachshund and myself. In places, the incline of the fell is...More

Amazing views and worth the climb, but it's pretty tough and steep. I would say, though not a seasoned climber or very experienced walker, this walk up is not for the frail or infirm!

A relatively straightforward walk above Grange-over-Sands to a staggering 360 degree view and a lovely old shelter with viewpoint above pointing out all of the peaks and places you can see. Limestone plateau. Three hours needed.
