I went for a day out in the summer and the view was magnificent but one thing I really was looking forward to a boat ride but it didn’t quite work out

A very good place for walkers as the terrain is not particularly hilly .there are quite a lot of good country pubs stretched around the lake for refreshments .

Several different walks and views and it is very big so choose your parking location, or park up twice. But above all visit Normanton Church.

Stayed here last year too. What a stunning area . Great for walking and cycling. An Osprey breeding program is being done around Rutland water. I managed to get a glimpse of one on my walks.

We had a cracking day out on what was a cold day. The car park at Barnsdale was closed but we enjoyed walking in the woods, watching the birds and a trip to Normanton church. A great day and will return

Sorry for the delay. There are several nature reserves which have bird blinds. The centres may be closed in February as they were early March ... but you can follow the paths and observe birds on your own!
