Very interesting place to visit whilst in the Oakham, Rutland area. Plenty of people to talk to about the castle whilst you are there. They hold weddings and other events during the year. The Food and Drink Festival is excellent.

We speny an unexpectedly enjoyable hour here, with an excellent, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable local guide, learning about the history and traditions of this well-preserved place, with some small but fascinating details and accounts that only a learned local might provide. Recommended!

Lovely place in the centre of Oakham. The horseshoes are very interesting and there was plenty to keep my grandchildren of 10 and 12 entertained. Friendly staff.

Oakham Castle was an unexpected treat in what we took to be a quaint old market town. It is well worth a visit, situated in lovely grounds. It should be visited just to admire the sheer diversity and number of horseshoes!
