Beautiful interesting building

Went into the Dome for the Buxton Tattoo and an antique show - both were brilliant. The setting is absolutely interesting and a fantastic place.

We entered this building as part of our Buxton guided tour. We had seen the building from the outside prior to our visit and even then we were impressed. Step inside the dome, walk to the middle and just look all around, especially upwards and then listen to the acoustics. Then I would suggest grab yourself a coffee or whatever... More

Visiting Buxton, I was looking for the Opera House, I saw the Dome and assumed that I had found it. I went inside and was somewhat puzzled. In this immense open space there were no seats, no foyer and no stage! I enquired of a young man wearing a badge and was told that the place I had found was... More

Very beautiful building! Seems to have been a former hospital, and is now a university. Grab a coffee from Costa and admire the dome. Be aware that photo taking is not permitted between 12:30-1:30

Access is limited and it's not clear how to enter, but you can go in a few feet and look up at the structure. It is amazing to see something this large built so long ago without the aid of a computer and it is still standing.

I went to University here for 3 years, the Dome is an amazing historical building which is the perfect setting for a tourism degree. Other than the Domes breathtaking structure there is information about the building at various places within the Dome. The Dome Tours are a really informative activity to take part in, with the tourism team at the... More

Magnificent domed ceiling, definitely worth a visit if in Buxton. Looks impressive from the outside but even better inside. Visit won't take long but definitely worth a look.

This is a fabulous vision from the outside so a visit was essential for us. Great old building with interesting and varied history, quite breathtaking when you walk inside and behold the structure. It is part of Derby university but you can enter for a look around. Be sure to stand on the starshape centre piece and talk normally to... More

The Dome is a truly beautiful old building and the shape of it is really charming. It's said tha if you stand right in the centre on the ground floor and whisper you can be heard everywhere in the building.
