The wall was built at the time of the Norman Conquest about 1066 or so. It is massive in its construction and still very impressive but has been damaged over the years by people needing building stone and not least by the council to build...More

This magnificent structure can be walked around at ground level( for most of the way) but not on it unfortunately. almost a1/3 was destroyed when they built the ship yard.

It's just by the side of the road and anyone can go up and touch it bear in mind that this fragmented wall is 500 years older than America ! It really is living history right in the middle of us.
