Wonderful place! We visited as NT members with our 13m old. Lovely place to sit and have a family picnic, a wander through the beautiful gardens and then a cream tea in the tea gardens. The paths are steep and gravelly so a little difficult to push the buggy in places but well worth a visit on a sunny day (no real cover for rainy days).

Visited with my partner on during our holiday to the Isle of Wight, we were lucky to visit on a sunny day with temperatures in the high 20s. The gardens are beautiful and the location is very peaceful. We spent a good few hours wandering around enjoying the sights, smells and sounds. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

A bit tucked away, this little National Trust garden is a peaceful, beautifully designed and maintained gem, just filled with colour, scent and beauty. The sprawling Elizabethan house isn’t open, unfortunately and likely never will be, but for a change to admire the gardens, or be a bit more energetic and walk along to see the coast, this is absolutely not to be missed. It’s a magical haven and I only knocked one star off as I’d have loved to poke around inside the house. The tea garden is almost bigger than the rest but worth it with lovely cakes. It’s all enchanting and very pretty.

5* for gardens, location and cafe
Sadly staff weren't not as knowledgeable a one would have hoped for about the history of General Jack Seely, the family and Warrior. eg where is Warrior buried, was his stable now where the toilets are situated ?
It was lovely to see the copies of the 2 paintings Warrior at close quarters.
No reference to Queen Mary's visit and meeting Warrior Cowes Week 1934
No reference to the Phillip Blacker sculpture of the General and Warrior .
There was small exhibition stand in the local village church where General Seely is buried. This is located outside the main entrance to the house.
Lovely gardens and interesting new design in the lower garden with the emphasis on drought tolerant planting.

We came here and did two circular walks - one that goes inland and offers fantastic views across the south of the island and out to the sea, the second (and not quite as scenic) towards the coast. Lovely tea garden with plenty of tables and shade on a sunny day. Very small gift and plant shop. Gardens offer some peace and quiet.

Beautiful gardens and a Lovely house. Unfortunately only one room of the house is open and that is used as a second hand book shop. It’s a Lovely place for a family picnic. The outdoor cafe is also very pleasant - we had a very nice cup of tea and cake.

The gardens at Mottstone are lovely. Not overly big, but well spaced out, with a sense of peace and quiet on even a sunny day.
Also a nice tea "cart" and a lovely second hand bookshop. The church opposite is also worth a walk round.

The lower garden so beautiful, but it was worth making a climb up onto the downs to The Long Stone as well with all it's history
A lovely setting to have lunch and nice staff in the reception.

Visited this garden today and what an absolute delight. The gardens are beautiful and larger than I had expected. All the staff were very friendly and the tea garden was another delightful surprise with a reasonably priced variety of food and drink.
I love gardens and if I lived on the island this would become a regular stop.
Don’t miss this on your holiday.

Hi, ianmel1969. What would you like to know about this attraction?
Just wondering what length of time you would need to visit Mottistone Manor?

A visit around the Gardens and taking in the tea rooms would take around 2hrs. The Manor House is only open 2 days a year.

Can I just visit the tea garden rather than the gardens. I was thinking of stopping for a snack during walking the Tennyson Trail

Hi
I'm sorry but the Tea Garden is within the Gardens and there is a charge for entering the Gardens so you would need to pay the entrance fee or be a National Trust Member to enter the Gardens.
