Private investment has regenerated an ordinary bit of another rundown seaside town into a small flourishing hub of outlets for quirky creativity and micro eateries. Nice change from dreary malls and failing high streets but, in a way, it's a ghetto that doesn't radiate its...More

This is where the town is regenerating. It is a hub for galeries, cafes, arts of all kinds, music, record shops etc. It is still a work in progress but already a lovely place

At the time of our visit the Old High Street was actually a tip, with scaffolding abounding, and graffiti. Tontine Street and the harbour area generally look like work in progress, very slow progress. The old railway line to the harbour arm was being concreted...More

We visited this part of Folkestone whilst on holiday nearby and it was nice to see the labour of love that has created this special area of the town. Lots of cafes, galleries and quaint shops to visit make this an interesting place to explore.

If you are near the Harbor Arm, you should head up the hill on Old High Street and check out the Creative Quarter. Its a quirky combination of narrow streets, shops, restaurants, pubs and ...well, you name it!

This project is amazing and shows what can be done with a depressed town with a bit of imagination and the backing of a generous local billionaire. I am so impressed and can see it thriving in the coming years. I'm sure it will inspire...More

The Creative Quarter is full of small shops for art, fashion antiques and artifacts of all sorts. We go there every time we visit Folkestone, as there is always something new to see browsing the art shops.

Great for a wander through if you're hipster, artisic, creative, foodie..........or a cynic looking for something to laugh at. It all fits the stereotype beautifully - all artisan coffee, wacky shop interiors, tattooed and bearded creatives running the shops, and overpriced artwork. Great fun though.
