Overview
More
An invigorating 1.3 mile climb on the South West Coast Path through mixed woodland, rich in wildlife and with magnificent views out across the Bristol Channel. The return route drops gently downhill along a Victorian drive built by the Luttrells of Dunster Castle. There is an optional adventurous detour for keen geologists if the tide is low.

The sea front has been upgraded and the walk passes through this. For instance, the old shelters have been repaired and painted blue and cream. Much better. Plus an exhibition of photos of old Minehead - outdoor - and interesting.

The South West Coast Path is 630 miles long. This walk only covers the first two miles or so but is a great way to start. Very picturesque and nice woodland track takes you back to Minehead once you reach the end.

Good days walk, lovely views, hilly and need decent footwear plus sunshine! Variations to the route for easier / harder walking and well signed

Stunning vistas over the Bristol Channel as we followed the maps and narratives provided by Encounter Walking. Great way to immerse oneself in the culture of rural England.

Initially well signed. Could do with a better sign marking path at the farm (heading towards Porlock)

Nice start to the Coastal Path, but some very big climbs at the beginning. Have your photo taken by the large metal map sculpture and walk along with the sea to your right and then start climbing!

A stunning walk on the outskirts of Minehead. Stunning views of the Bristol channel and to South Wales. Not suitable for buggys but perfect for young children even in the middle of the winter. Can get quite muddy so suitable footwear is essential.

Lovely views, have to take a little care as the water runs off the cliff face and across the path, hence our little dog got rather soggy feet!

David's tips are spot on. In addition, the walk finder part of the South West Coast Path website has the ability to filter for those walks that are easy going, and has links to where you can find more information about... More
