We were lucky as we were in Colchester when there was a heritage day so free entry. Very interesting, especially if roman Britain interests you. The building itself is fascinating and the surrounding park was immaculately kept.

I guess this is the place where you should start any visit to Colchester. Great insight into Colchester through the ages. Kids particularly enjoyed the chariot race ... as did I.

Was disappointed that the children also need to pay to enter, had a reasonable experience to help with children’s summer diary but value for money definitely not there.
