Open 7 days a week 7.5 Acres of inspirational Gardens £6.95 admission (under 14's Free). Gravel Garden, extensive Nursery and Tea Room all free to gain access. The Beth Chatto Gardens began in 1960. From an overgrown wasteland with poor gravel soil and boggy hollows, using the principles of ecological planting, it has been transformed into 7 acres of informal garden comprising of the Gravel Garden, Water Garden, Woodland Garden and Scree Garden all harmonising with the surrounding countryside. The gardens are an inspiration to anyone who visits them - the art of planting at its best.

There is also an extensive Nursery with choice of over 2,000 different kinds of mainly herbaceous plants and bulbs.

Light and spacious Tearoom with homemade cakes, light lunches, breakfasts, fresh ground coffee and selection of teas.

This review is about the fabulous gardens - not the cafe as we didn't eat. However, the cafe looked very enticing and the menu was full of tasty dishes. The garden was magnificent, and strolling around the various areas was uplifting thanks to the clever designs and planting. Magnificent trees, wonderful use of the water this placed is blessed with,... More

These gardens and plant nursery have beautiful and unusual plants and there is plenty of information about the conditions needed to successfully grow tem in your own garden. If you just want to have a stroll in attractive countrside surroundings this is also the place to be.

Went today with my Sister, with high expectations, but left feeling sad and disappointed! I have been wanting to go here for such a long time. Only some of the plants are labelled - we took pictures and then asked staff in the garden centre, who just didn't have a clue!! I am pleased we only paid the reduced rate,... More

Superb gardens to visit and excellent plants to purchase ... Pleasant tea rooms with usual garden centre type lunches and snacks ... entrance to the gardens is I recall relatively pricey but worth it for a full visit rather than a quick look

I am fortunate to live near Beth Chatto Gardens and what a beautiful place it is. Beth has created gardens within a garden, of all formats, dry, wet etc. It is a breath taking place of beauty and tranquillity. Every way you turn, you see a different scene of beauty. This is a must for anyone interested in plants and... More

We visited the gardens yesterday--we have been before but remember them as being much bigger so were slightly disappointed. We walked round the gardens in about 20 minutes but as we only paid the reduced rate of £4.50 this was probably a fair price. The tea rooms were fine--soup was good as were the scones.Ladies in the shop very pleasant

This was our first visit to Beth Chatto Garden and what a wonderful place this is, with 3 large pond with and load of water loving plants and the many thousands of snowdrops, hellebores and winter aconites, we will certainly return in the summer.

Visited on the snowdrop weekend and was thrilled to see how many varieties there were. The member of staff on duty on the nursery told us that Anglesey Abbey has more, but that didn't matter a jot to us, we were in awe of the spectacle of the wonderfully naturalised white gems. Our frien's were visiting for the first time... More
