I learned things here that I haven't learned anywhere else
Wow! This gem of a museum is so worth an hour of your time. I learned things about the war that I haven't learned anywhere else and I have gone to dozens of WWII museums. There are Food Flash videos, a great and simple introduction to what led Germany into war, and lots of visual and written information about what it was like at home during the war. The museum is the personal collection of a man whose grandparents' home was bombed during a bombing raid, and he played with one of the deactivated bombs as a boy which started his fascination with all things WWII. The museum is worth twice the entrance fee and I'm so glad we stopped. If you have an interest in WWII you owe it to yourself to come here.
Thank you so much for visiting, for the wonderful review and so glad you enjoyed the museum. All these years later I can still recall my grandmother telling me about the night that the incendiary bomb fell in her Wirral garden during the Merseyside blitz of May 1941. They were lucky of course as it didn't set fire to anything and they could extinguish it with a filled sandbag, but countless others were not so fortunate.

    A real hidden gem!
We loved our last minute visit to this museum and would highly recommend it to others. It’s quite clearly a real passion of the owners. We spent just over an hour inside (possibly could’ve spent longer as there is so much detail to take in). 1000s of authentic exhibits from the period really make it feel like stepping back in time. As well as telling the story of wartime life across the U.K., there’s also a great focus on local life in Llandudno and the surrounding areas during that time. As others have said, there are no toilets on site and that is clearly stated before you go in - but plenty of public ones nearby. Finally, the admission fee is still low and so it is great value for money.
Thank you. So glad you enjoyed your visit and hope to welcome you back again sometime.

    Well worth the entrance fee!
What a special place of interest. The owner has curated all these items since he was 8 years old. How wonderful to put them all together in this one place. A good insight to the hardships of the war and a good reminder to our young ones that they are free today due to the sacrifices of others
So glad you enjoyed your visit and hope to welcome you back again.

Great little find and highly recommended
If you can, make time to go to this great little museum. A great account of WWII through the eyes of the owner and curator. Thoughtfully planned out and adding touches of local heroes lives we suggest that instead of us telling you all about it, you pay your reasonable entrance fee and enjoy a good couple of hours of nostalgia
So glad you enjoyed your visit to the Home Front Museum 👍👍👍

    A different perspective
Had heard about this place before, and when I had a few hours to spare waiting for a car service, decided to check it out. The curator/owner was very friendly and explained he’d been collecting since 8yrs old. I’ve been interested in military history from a young age myself, listening to snippets from my great uncle growing up. This was a very different experience than the normal war time museum, focusing on the social aspect ‘back home’ during the war. A fascinating collection, with real life accounts of people linked with the local area throughout. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Glad you enjoyed your visit to the Home Front Museum. Hope you had a safe journey home.

    A wonderful collection....
This fascinating collection of artifacts put together by the owner, gives a fantastic insight into what went on to support the war effort. Inspiring stories about individuals who gave their all during the troubled times of the early forties. Well worth a visit if you are in Llandudno. The Anderson shelter took me back to my childhood......there was still one in my Grandmothers` garden in the late sixties, being used as a tool shed !
Glad you enjoyed your visit to the museum and the shelter brought back childhood memories. Look forward to welcoming you back again.

    The best museum.
This museum is fantastic. I think I paid just over £6 for myself and my daughter. If you like history you will definitely enjoy this museum! We spent a good couple of hours walking through looking at the exhibition and reading the literature accompanying the displays. The commentary as you go through entrance sets the ambience for the whole exhibit. It transports you a time gone by with original pieces some donated and some collected, clearly a labour of love which is shown throughout. Because items donated are original pieces that belonged to someone's grandmother/grandfather/family it made it so much more personal and was telling a story rather than just a display. My 10year old thoroughly enjoyed it especially the Anderson's shelter as she'd been taught it in school. Llandudno is very fortunate to have such a wonderful museum.

    Llandudno's extra bonus
I wasn't sure what to expect with this museum and may have been a bit sceptical before we went - what a mistake. Described as a small museum it was a lot bigger than I expected and absolutely crammed with interesting wartime artifacts. Done up with period style narrow streets and lots of tableaus showing the collection off. Very friendly people to welcome you in, ticket price for a family very reasonably and right in the heart of Llandudno - a couple of minutes walk from the promenarde and just down from the tram stop. Well worth popping in.

    Hidden gem
Didn't have particulalry high expectations before entering as it looked quite small. However the museum is well laid out with a large number of items in the various display cabinets as well as other items such as copies of newspapers etc. There is a great deal of information to be read, either on boards on the wall or laminated hand outs (my only suggestion for improvement would be to include extra copies of these). The various areas are themed and as you would hope in a local museum there is something of a focus on how the war impacted Llandudno and its local residents. I spent just over an hour in the museum and had to leave to meet someone. but could easily have spent another 30 mins or so. Overall, was very impressed. If you have any interest in the home front in WW2, then I would thoroughly recommend this slightly hidden gem. It puts some "proffessionaly" run larger museums to shame.

    Interesting Exhibits
This smallish museum has a number of "room" settings round the theme of WWII and home life in the mid 20th century. They are as diverse as a kitchen, washhouse and privy, ARP station, morse code machine and UXB. It works for all age groups. We older visitors enjoyed spotting familiar items and younger visitors were amazed at the way things were. Well worth the admission fee.

Despite living not far away I hadn't been before. I'm so glad I did. I was staggered how much genuine wartime artefacts there are in the place. There is plenty to look at. So much history about the area too, most of which I didn't realize before visiting. Exceptionally well presented and maintained displays and a friendly welcome. You can spend ages just soaking up the atmosphere.

We LOVED this little museum!!! It’s been brilliantly curated from one man’s collection and what a collection it is!

You first walk through fitted period representations of a home (lounge & kitchen), and then on to both local and universal war related items on display,

Big, shiny publicly funded museums are one thing. This museum is quite simply another; it is a TREASURE!

A small but very fascinating museum, all on one level. Various displays showing examples of shops, ARP stations, Anderson shelters, Newspaper articles etc. There is a poignant end to the tour with a dedication to those lost in the war.

A very small museum but never the less, very interesting and very atmospheric due to the air raid sirens and the Churchill speach playing on the radio. I loved it, it also gave details on Llandudno folks contributions in WW2. It's also great value entry. A great little place to visit on a rainy day. : )

We visited this museum whilst in Llandudno and were pleasantly surprised by it. It is a small museum, even if you take your time looking at the items on display and reading lots of information you'd struggle to spend more than hour in here but the entrance fee is cheap and what is in there is really interesting.

The museum focuses on what life was like for British civilians during world war 2 and I came away having learnt quite a lot. There were many everyday artefacts from the 1940s which themselves were just interesting to look at as well as a wall of newspaper clippings so you can see what was being reported to the public during the war. I enjoyed the wall of women who had important roles to play, it was really nice to read about specific women and their stories rather than just women as a whole.

All in all this is a really good, interesting and needed museum which I would high recommend visiting if you're in Llandudno.
