Simply but freindly and a great brew!

Went here mainly for somewhere different to have a cup of tea but was tempted into the museum. It is far bigger than it appears inside with some interesting pieces and articles well laid out.

I visited the Redoubt on a sunny but cold November day. Very few other people there. The redoubt itself looked a bit unloved but the museum was worth it. Perhaps I will come back in the summer and see if more people make the Redoubt more vibrant and interesting.

After experiencing some bad customer service at a neighbouring cafe/restaurant, it was a breath of fresh air to be welcomed in for a cup of tea, tea cake and a sandwich. Nothing fancy, but a friendly girl serving us, comfy seats and mugs with moustaches on... what more could you want :-)

The redoubt is a brilliant visit. Lots to see and do, the guided tour was a little trying, a little to much information. Didnt get to see all parts of the fortress, due to lack of time after tour. Tour showed some unexpected parts of the fort! Thouroughly enjoyed visit.

If military history interests you the Redoubt is a must see structure. I was lucky to join a group tour and the guide was very interesting and knowledgeable.

This is a place very often missed as it is a bit out of town and doesn't look very interesting. However, you should not miss going in there and be very surprised by the history and the items in there to see.

Had a family gathering in Eastbourne and as we walked along the seafront we came across the entrance to the museum and decided to go in. There are a lot of interesting exhibits in the museum, but we were particularly facinated by the world war one display with stories of local men who went to war. We also enjoyed tea... More

Our mark of three is because we did not pay to go around the museum on this occassion, but the bits we did see which was free to the public was interesting with views out to sea from the gun turrets. We did go to the cafe on a couple of occasions as it was in a nice courtyard which... More

This is a gem! A very well preserved napoleonic military fort and not far from the main sea front in Eastbourne. After seeing a dilapidated example this was a breath of fresh air. Many areas are accessible and they have even coordinated facilities including a tea room. Lots to explore and a guided tour as part of the fee to... More
